Cats often pee over drains this is because the smell of the urine comes back to them and re-inforces them to continue urinating at that spot. If you use ammonia or similiar it will only make things worse as your cat thinks another cat has peed in the sink and he needs to remark his territory. Anyway, It is important to make sure that your cat is actually spraying and not urinating. Spraying the cat stands and puts it bottom usually against a flat upright surface. The spray comes out horizontally. This is done to mark territory and territory marking is always increased when the cat is stressed or new individuals added into the family (human or animal). Cats more often spray when other cats are in their territory.
Urination is where the cat squats with its bottom to the floor and leaves a puddle. If your cat has a urinary tract infection he will be doing this almost constantly but only leaving a small amount of urine each time.
Either way there is A LOT that can be done for your cat yet. Make sure your cat likes his litter tray. It feels good to him ie he hopes in and lingers. Start at the sink and slowly move (over weeks) the tray to where you want him to pee. There are two products clomicalm and feliway that have been developed specifically to at least reduce or even eliminate spraying. If your cat has an infection it will continue to urinate inappropriately until treated with antibiotics. A quick trip to the vet should make your life less miserable in no time. They should not only be able to diagnose the problem but treat it as well. Just make sure that they stock products (smaller clinics do not always) for spraying cats before you go. Good luck.

First off if you shoot a cat or another animal then just give up and take it to a shelter that will give it a home that wants it.

Spraying is the most likly thing that the cat is doing. Why in the sink is beyond me but then again cats do have some weird quirks about them. Take the cat to the vet get it spayed that should solve the problem there.

Otherwise make sure your using a large enough litter box, make sure the cat knows where it is dont move it unless you need to. Keep food and water far away from the litter box. Have litter that is not scented in the litter box.

Then get a kitty bottle of karmic cleansing. A spray bottle that is never used for anything else besides water. Catch him in the act and squirt him until he moves. Never use it for fun just for when you catch him in the sink.

I believe it may be a matter of cleanliness and a urinary track infection. My 15 yr-old cat started to use the bath tub when he couldn't' get to the litter box in time. We thought it was because he was elderly and also had feline leukemia, but the vet said it was a urinary track infection causing him to pee so much and that I was luck he was using an easy to clean surface.

Before flushing the surface look to see if there are white crystalline residue, this is a dead give away.

Also never clean up cat pee with anything ammonia based. To help truly neutralize odors u may not smell. Rub a fresh lemon or orange over the area after cleaning and let the juices sit. This will kill the smell even for your cat.

Hope this helps.

It can take time for the hormones to settle after neutering, usually 6 months is the longest, of course there are exceptions. To stop him peeing in the sink, put the plug in and put a little water in it. There are pheremones in the drains from our sweat and some cats think it smells like pee so they will use it as a toilet.

Have him checked by the vet as this can be a sign of urinary infection, they do it in there because it's cooling and relieves the burning.

Well, first bleach out the sink.

If he persists in peeing in the sink, perhaps there is an odor he is detecting that he thinks is another male cat. Maybe the bleach will kill that odor, maybe not. You might clean out the P trap is he continues.

I had a red tabby Tom and I am very partial to them. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed my friend.

Good luck.

Try moving the litter pan into the sink?

Is he fixed? He may be marking his territory. Also, he could have a urinary tract infection. Your vet will be able to test for this. If not, it may be behavorial. There are medications that can help with this. Ask your vet.

my 6 month old kitten does that right by our door. the vet says that he has a urinary track infection. they do that because it is too painful to urine in the litter box, so they find somewhere else where they are comfortable.
