I left her car unlocked, and her camera got stolen, should I offer to replace it?

Did you leave it unlocked when you were a passenger, or did you borrow it and leave it unlocked? In the first case, you might've closed the door, but if she was the driver it was also her responsibility to check the car was locked, offer to pay part perhaps? As a passenger, you should try to be helpful by locking your own door as you get out, but the driver also carries part of the responsibility when she's there.

If you'd borrowed her car, then you're fully responsible for anything that happened to it or the contents (unless it was something that was broken already, if the lock was malfunctioning and didn't always lock properly). That kind of responsibility comes with borrowing a vehicle.

Yes. By leaving her car unlocked, and for the camera being left in the car where it could be seen.

At least make a sincere offer. A friend borrowed my car once, and left it unlocked. About 50 cassette tapes(showing my age here) got stolen. I was not a happy camper. His apology and replacing all he could saved our friendship.

you should replace it because you left the car open. you should give her the money to buy a camera with equal or lesser value of the camera that was lost.

If you were responsible for the car and you let it fall victim to a theft that could have been avoided because of your own neglect...then baby, pony up the new digi-camera. You are the weakest link!!! Goodbye!!!

Yes, You are responsible for your friend's digital camera. I suggest you get her another one to show your friend that you value the friendship.

If you feel you are at fault, then yes, offer to help her buy back the camera.

yes. Sorry, but you did leave her car unlocked. That was an irresponsible omission.
A mistake most of us have made, but when we do it we have to pay the consequences.
EDIT:
For the friendship's sake (she may be pretty angry, whether she shows it or not), it might be worthwhile buying her an even better one.

After I got done kicking myself in the rear end, I would apologize to my friend and offer to replace it....that would be the right thing to do (don't kid yourself...I would be hoping my friend would say "That's not necessary")
