If it's posted, it's law.

What you're asking is, can you drive in the shoulder past cars in the right lane to make a right turn. The answer is NO....but it also depends on what your laws are regarding right turns. In NV, you can only move over into the shoulder 100 ft prior to making a right turn.

Well laws may vary from state to state, BUT if there are NOT two clearly marked lanes then the road is considered to only have two lanes of travel. each in the opposite direction. For the road, street, avenue, lane whatever it is is NOT clearly marked by dividing lines then there is only one lane for travel in that direction. So if you get caught you could get a ticket for passing improperly, as well as operating to endanger the lives / safety of the motoring public. This is not to mention the pedestrian (foot) traffic. The shoulder of the road is as a rule used for parking and or vehicles that are broken down. I would suggest that you give this some thought and use EXTREME CARE & CAUTION if you do decide to pass on the right in order to make a right turn. Also I did not mention, that if the vehilce you are passing to make the right turn decides that he/she wants to turn right as well, OH well accidents do happen but do you need the added grief?

In New York, It is *illegal*.

NY Consolidated Laws › Vehicle and Traffic Law (VAT) › Title 7 RULES OF THE ROAD › Article 25 (1120 - 1131) DRIVING ON RIGHT SIDE OF ROADWAY, OVERTAKING AND PASSING, ETC.:
"§ 1131. Driving on shoulders and slopes. Except for bicycles and those classes of vehicles required to travel on shoulders or slopes, no motor vehicle shall be driven over, across, along, or within any shoulder or slope of any state controlled-access highway except at a location specifically authorized and posted by the department of transportation. The foregoing limitation shall not prevent motor vehicles from using shoulders or slopes when directed by police officers or flagpersons, nor does it prevent motor vehicles from stopping, standing, or parking on shoulders or slopes where such stopping, standing, or parking is lawful."

It is only legal when the line breaks. If there is a solid line then you can not drive on the shoulder. Most likely 100 feet away from the turn is allowed.

relies upon on your rules and regulations in the city/state/province/u . s . you're placed in. In maximum of North usa, sure it rather is. this is observed as import. You litterally deliver the motor vehicle over from Japan or uk and alter each and every window and lightweight and tires and greater to greater healthful the DOT regulations and different american safty regulations then deliver the motor vehicle to an authorized storage to have it inspected and then it's going to be registered and you are able to insure it! then you certainly justchronic it and experience having people staring at you and asserting your an fool for using on the incorrect ingredient of the motor vehicle! HAHA yet becarefull, do no longer make left turns, extensive blind spots!

I live in central NY, and it's a state law in most places in regard to turning from the shoulder. The main reason is because when you turn off of a shoulder, you are possibly in the right side blind spot if you have anyone in front of you. You can check it out yourself at http://www.dmv.org/ny-new-york/department-motor-vehicles.php
