What percentage of kidney failure do you have? And yes, dialysis will be in your future at some point. You need to modify your diet (depends on what percentage of your kidneys are failing) and definitely get your blood pressure under control as it hurts the kidneys too. Unfortunately there is no cure for kidney failure other than a transplant and dialysis only works for so long... so it is VERY IMPORTANT that you do as much as you can to keep yourself healthy. Good luck and best wishes!

Kidney failure can be chronic or can be acute. If you have not had a 24 hour urine specimen drawn for protien, creatinine and electrolytes, your not in bad enough shape to have dialysis. Sometimes your kidneys slowly fail over a period of years or months.
You should apply for public aid assistance. Dialysis is a free treatment on the house for everyone. You do not have to pay for it if you live in the USA thanks to a government official who had a relative on dialysis and passed a law.
Sometimes things can be done to preserve your kidney function and I hope that is the case for you.

Dialysis is an option. Hopefully, you can qualify for a kidney transplant to fix your condition. I hope you feel better.

It means you aren't ill enough to require a transplant. Keep checking with the social worker at the dialysis unit. Also talk to Dept of Health and Human Resources. You may be able to reduce your work schedule and buy into the medicaid card. I had cancer.

While Yahoo Answers is fun, I suggest you get your medical advice from a doctor instead, rather than someone whose online reliability can not be measured.
