Get something like that, you want a nice light shoe that you can put these little metal spikes into... A good site to find them is Eastbay and you could try any sports stores and ask someone that works there if they have sprinting spikes

For the 100 meter dash, it can be a great advantage to wear track shoes. I'm assuming you're speaking of the very light shoes with small spikes at the toe and ball of the foot.
You should check to see if your track is paved as in concrete or it's the all-weather rubber that is slightly "squishy". If it's concrete, don't use spiked shoes, but for the rubber and non-paved tracks spiked shoes can help you grip the track and prevent you from slipping.
Good luck!

If you mean the track is paved with an all weather surface then you will use 1/8 or 1/4 inch spikes. If it is some kind of jogging track that uses asphalt like a parking lot then the spikes will not work. If you run on dirt tracks you need longer spikes. Where you get the spikes you can get different length spikes and replace them depending on the surface. The running stores in town can give you advice since they should know the tracks in the area. Have you asked your coach? Hopefully you have a track coach and not the assistant football coach with the lest seniority who got stuck coaching track.

you definetely need track spikes for the 100 m. what kind of paved track is it, is it cement? if not, then you can still use the spikes, the only thing you need to change is the size of the spikes for the type of ground you're working on. i would recommend to practice and compete with spikes the most possible. 1/4 spikes and smaller spikes are good in hard paved tracks. bigger ones are better on the dirt. rubber spikes are great on the grass. good luck

I wore the nike zoom jana's from a couple of years ago. They worked really great! You never told us what races you were doing though. I used my in the 200m when I was in 8th grade and when I got high school ran the 800m and 1600m in them and they worked fine. I've never worn adidas so I couldn't tell you. Another good brand is Saucony. Remember that some brands fit certain ppl fine because of the way their feet are built and don't fit others as well. So try on the shoes yourself before buying. Hope this helps! :)

Hello. I am in a situation close to yours. My high school has a dirt track and in meets we have to wear spikes for our events. You should always have a decent pair of running shoes for training, but for meets at other schools, use spikes. In middle school spikes don't matter, but they make you run a lot faster. Good luck!

Don't wear spikes on paved tracks because it wears the spikes down a lot and it won't help you any because it won't give you any extra traction.

well i do. if your school requires you to have spikes but if you are going to run the 100 m dash with spikes make sure its not just asphalt or any hard surface that the skipes cant grip onto. it will ruin your spikes. but just normal running shoes (ie-nikes) should be worn on both tracks. shoes that arent running shoes will effect your performance. good luck!
