Make them join the military so that they can live in America. Offer a deal and say: you cannot live in America untill you have joined the American military for four years. Would that be a good idea, i dont neccesarly think it would be a good idea but i want to see what you think.

I think that is an EXCELLENT IDEA. US gets about 4,000 illegal immigrants crossing the border into the US every day. In 250 days the US would have 1,000,000 new troops. Ship 700,000 of them to Iraq & 300,000 to Afganhistan and both wars will be won very quickly.

I think any person currently serving our country in the armed forces should be given citizenship.. serving American is a courageous duty that deserves benefits. As far as forcing hopeful immigrants into the army, i'm split on the issue. Part of me thinks that they should be required to serve in the military so that they fight for the freedoms of this country, but the other part of me knows that we are the greatest military in the world because we are a volunteer army. The last thing our boys and girls need is for a bunch of soldiers on the battlefield to detest being there. They wouldn't follow orders and they could possible cause the death of soldiers by their behavior. It potentially might cause racism within the military, possible breeches of security, and irresponsible behavior on the battlefield. As someone once in charge of a platoon (military division of soldiers), i know how hard it is to control a group of people and get them working toward a common goal, i can't even imagine how difficult it would be to control a group of people who didn't want to be there. We need soliders who want to be in the army and who feel a patriotic duty toward the country, not soliders who don't want to be there. My thoughts on if they want to come to the country, come through the right way. Reform the immigration system so that it is faster to obtain citizenship, but do it the right way or you don't belong here at all, regardless of military service

Many have chosen the military as a pathway to citizenship already. But expect President Bush to trade oil for amnesty.

No for one reason that would ruin the fact that our military is a all volunteer force not people who are ordered into service.

Lol.

If you did not NEED immigrants, I suppose that would be one way to cut down on the number and type of immigrants you get.

Fewer skilled workers would want to serve in your military.

Well, we already do that with Mexico. Many mexicans are earning their citizenship by serving. I believe if they are prooving their loyalty to the Constitution by serving, they deserve citizenship.

What would be the point? They already have no respect for our laws.. what would making another law for them to break serve?
