Economy, Money, Power, these three words are perfect example why the world buy Chinese product, but remember mostly they are only just the producer, They don't own International brand such as Nike, Cola, Sony, Dell, CK, Etc (they try to buy oil giant but no deal I mean how many westerner you see own Lenovo?) so actually American people just paying fracture amount of money if they buy Chinese made International brand goods.

In comparison Chinese people have to pay 100% amount of money to USA/western if they buy Boeing, Louis Vuitton, Holywood movies (not in form DVD but TV broadcast or Cinema), High speed train, Cargo ships, Medicines, Windows (not in form of pirated copy) or any other high tech high quality goods for that matters.

So to answer your question "What is China's government & public attitude toward buying American products?" I would say their attitude would be about the same as their western counterpart buying their product.

If the "American Products" means the physical materials like food, cosmetics, clothing, electronics... We buy what we like. You gonna know, price of imported products are double even tripple than the price you can buy in States especially food ( I mean imported food) and clothing. American fast food chain or coffee shops like Starbucks, price is also a little higher than in States. Even this, people still keep spending money on them, because they like to do it.

If the "American Products" means design or technology. I think it must be a win win business to both American and Chinese. Americans invest China because the huge market, the potential purchase ability and the cheap labour; What we need is your design and technology or advanced management. Both of us get what we need, then we exchange by currency, we call it "Trading" or we work together, as we call it "joint-venture".

For public, business is business, you like it, you want it, you can afford the price Americans offer, you buy it. No price complain, no bargin, no deal. So I don't think there's any strange attitude toward buying American products.

For government, it's binding together with a lot political things which are not only can be simply understood by us. It would be a long story and much more complicated than what we think.

That's my oppinion.

How will people find American products in China, when I can't even find many American products in America?
Maybe you are asking about China's attitude toward American corporations and culture?

Nothing, I lived in China for a year. McDonalds and KFC are spreading like cancer in China. (I assume within 10 years, there will be more fat people & health problems in China than today just like in the States).

Of course once in awhile, you will get a politician than abhors the rapid spreading of the western culture i.e food and the demise of the traditional values.

If people can afford it, they will buy a Buick car, IPOD etc etc. By the way, what makes you think American influences are the only foreign influence in the other part of the world.

Before the US started investing in China & Asia, Japan has been opening up plants in Malaysia, Thailand, China etc years before. I think its more common to see Sanyo, Toshiba, Panasonic than American made products.

Lets face it amigo, other than fast food & Pepsi/Coca Cola, American manufacturing have been faltering. If I want to buy a TV, tell me if there are any major American brands.

well china thinks they did everything, that america keeps stealling all there inventions, just as america blames them for stealing american products. becuase of these silent "feud" they only buy american stuff if they absolutely have to. after all, if u had the option of living with the world's most irritating mom-in-law or with the world's funnest sister, which would u choose, ud only live with the m-i-l if u absolutely hav 2! so yeah china isn 2 fond of it, but u gotta do wat u gotta do.
