why do you get perm? are you insecure with the way your natural hair looks? or are you just used to having perm because that's what your mother did

I used to have a relaxer and now my hair is natural. Most black ladies get them because it makes their hair straighter and easier to deal with, when your hair is too tangled it can make it difficult to look neat and put together. Even combing your hair is difficult and sometimes painful. Also there used to be a lot of problems with the natural look in a professional environment with dirty looks and attitudes, but now that some things have changed some people don't want to give it up, in which I don't blame them, there are also a lot of hairstyles that you cannot do without a relaxer.

I think that it is easier to style my hair while it is permed, tho it has been 20 years since I have had to deal with a press and comb

im not black but my friends are i think the reason why she get a perm is to relax the hair make it grow faster. it look more shine.
