He put it on her paws, what is the least painful way I can remove it? She's totally freaking out :( Let it be noted: He is now grounded for life now. (>.<)

Try mineral oil to get the sticky tape off.... it is safe for cats to ingest (it just prevents hairballs) and the tape should slide off.
Good luck!

I would suggest calling your local veterinarian and explaining the situation to her. I'm sure your vet will be more than happy to help you find a non-harmful solution.

As for the people who responded asking this woman to abuse her child (someone wrote a comment about duct taping her child which I found appalling)

- Abusing a child in response to misbehavior isn't the answer anyone is looking for. Please think about how your response affects other readers.

Kids are silly and do ridiculous things at times.

He may have acted out in reaction to the cats claws rubbing/scratching his skin. Being that he is young, I thought up a few ways that you can remedy such things from happening in the future.

-- There is a product called soft-paw, which is used as an alternative to declawing cats. It's perfectly harmless, looks neat and may help in the longrun (I included a link in the source).

Also:
-- I would suggest talking with your local shelter/humane society and bringing your son in for a visit.

If you can set up an appointment with one of the humane officers/shelter workers, perhaps he can learn about how these people care for animals and what they go through daily. Perhaps even inquiring into a temporary volunteer program will help educate him on how serious this behavior is.

This would be a wonderful way of teaching your son that he has done something wrong and in a way tricking him into having fun at the same time.

~ Hope this helps!

Tape On Cats Feet

Ohh harsh, well I think the least painful way but yet the way the cat would be prolly mad at you is to put the cat's paws in water to loosen the duck tape and then it will come off less painful and easier, but let me note it will be tricky, because cats don't really like touching water.

I agree that the safest and least painful way would be to take a pair of thin scissors and try and cut between the tape and the cat's fur. Have someone hold the cat so you can hold a paw when you cut.

That was very mean of your son. You might want to watch his behavior around other animals.....he might need counseling!!

Wow, that's one of the worst ones I've heard on here, poor cat. I would try holding her and soaking one or two paws at a time in warm water to loosen the tape up. You may have to contact your vet for help if you can't get it all off. Their paws are pretty sensitive.

I don't blame the poor cat. Try soaking the cat's feet on cooking oil or goo gone. Both are non toxic and should help in the removal of the tape. You will have to let either of them set for several hours prior to removing the tape.

I'd like to know how old your idiotic son is? Is he stupid or just down right mean? Try putting duck tape on his private parts, and ask him how he likes it. I hope he is grounded. He sounds like he is a very immature and irresponsible, not to mention a sorry excuse of a pet owner.
I'm sorry to be harsh, but I am an avid cat lover. I treat my 17 cats better than I do some humans. Cats can be very loving and compassionate animals. Mine think they are very little people, and are treated as such.

ok when taking somthing off a cats paw (they hate people touching their paws) hold the cat's head and slowly and carefully remove the ductape or get a wet rag and remove it a little enough where you can get the rag under neath the duct tape move the rag side to side and the water should loosen the ducktape.good luck!

We use WD40 to remove the residue leftover from duct tape after it is removed, I don't recommend simply ripping the duct tape off, though.

If you can soak the duct tape with wd40 and work it off, slowly.

You might want to take the cat to the vet and have it sedated.

If you can get some post-haste, you can also use Tape Remover from Cramer Sports Medicine Solutions. It deactivates the glue.
