I and my friends put together care packages of cookies, candy, razors shaving cream, books and just about anything we can get donated and send them to the troops once every two weeks. It totals about 2-3 hundred pounds of boxes when packed up.

I find people so ironic. I was born in a foreign country and adopted by American citizens. By doing this, they gave me so many opportunities I wouldn't have had anywhere else. i joined the military to try and give back something to a country that has given me so much. I complain about the way things are run once in a while, but i realize that nothing is ever perfect. Then you have people who were born here and take every opportunity for granted. They never once stopped to think that their life could be so much worse. They don't support the troops because they don't realize just how good they have it. What am I doing to support the troops? I became one.

I send letters and cards just like I send to the V.A. hospitals, and I thank them for giving unselfishly giving to our country, whether they stand for the current issue or not. I try to send at least 10 cards a month. I'm not in the military, but I live in an area, where there is a Marine base less than 10 miles from my home, and there is an Air Force Base located 1 1/2 hour away, so the troops are an important part of our community.

Wow some of these people are freaking awesome, they think they pay taxes to support our troops and because of the war.. Last time I checked my husbands pay check they were taking taxes out before the war, and then if I do stand to be corrected they are still doing the tax thing, it might be that I missed some news bulletin on it tho.. But if they think that is supporting our Troops well they must love the welfare too.. But anyway I support all of them, to the very end, I am not some dumb *** American that is living here bitching about the war.. I understand it takes time to do things, I was always told baby steps, but those who dont agree and dont support well maybe they need to move to Mexico or something (God knows they have the space for them)... And I have a handful of them I stand behind too, SPC WORLEY, SPC WEBSTER, SPC COMANCHO, AND THE REST OF BRAVO 3-82 FA 1ST CAV. out of Fort Hood Texas...God Bless you, keep your Chin high, and I love the question....

First off Capt Allen thanks for your service. My nephew is in the Air Force on the big AWACS planes.
I support the troops by donating to the local care packages groups every time I can and I donate my time to a group that provides free assistance to families that have their primary breadwinner overseas. Last month I helped re-wire a families 80 year old house.

First, thank you Capt. Allen for your service! Our men and women cannot be thanked enough for the sacrifices they make to protect our freedoms.
As for what I do to support the troops, well I do a lot of things. I pay my taxes on time and in full for starters. I pray daily for our men and women serving, I have adopted a soldier to write to and send care packages on a frequent basis. I have started a troop support project with my church youth group to send care packages and letters to 6 soldiers/marines and their units we adopted through anysoldier.com (awesome site btw). I send emails weekly to my friends currently serving both at home and overseas. I volunteer my time at a local American legion (not a member but pitch in just to say thanks to the vets), I thank our men and women in uniform and the vets who served when I get the chance. I have written notes on americasupportsyou.mil as well as operationdearabby. I purchase American Legion poppies each year to support wounded vets. Money is tight for me right now being Im only 24 and paying off student loans, but I really do my best to support OUR military. Hopefully someday I can send a nice big check to a worthy military related cause.
Im not in the service nor have been, but I really think keeping our troops morale high is key to maintaining the BEST armed forces in the world! Oh, last but not least, I fly my flag with pride every day and truely think about what those stars, stripes and colors REALLY stand for.

Lol.
I support both the war (in afganistan) and the Canadian troops in spirit. (I'm Canadian). What am i doing about it. Nothing. Waving flags or wearing red on friday is only symbolic. I only wore red once tho. (Michael Moore claims he does send money towards charities that help your troops.)
To be honest, give me a registered charity that supports the canadian troops in afganistan in a concrete way and I'd certainly donate something!!! We don't have a USO. Even, Tom Green, a Canadian, only went to entertain the American troops. (I hope the American troops in Afganistan are nice enough to invite the small canadian contigent to their USO stuff when they get that.)
As for the war in Iraq, I was and remain on the fence!!! Because the Bush administration STARTED it, I support them trying to FINISH it. I think NOTHING could be more IRRESPONSIBLE than to LEAVE the job unfinished. That said, MY LIFE IS NOT AT RISK!!! So my sentiments are easy to come by. Then again, so are the sentiments of the guy who sends $1000 to the USO, waves his American flag, supports the war, but neither has joined the military NOR send his own kids to serve. Its very easy to believe YOU are doing the right thing, if it does not cost me anything.
WORDS ARE CHEAP. I will agree with Michael Moore that force should be used with reflection. Your country should not throw your life away without a very good and compelling reason for it. If nothing was done about Afganistan, I'm sure that Al-Quaeda and every other wing nut organization would not think TWICE about attacking American civilians again. As a super power, the US had no choice but to enter that conflict and they had everybody behind them. Iraq could easily have been left to another day. (Weapons of mass destruction could probably have been handled by startegic strikes?)
Cheers,
P.S. Wish you well, assuming you are in Iraq or Afganistan. (Sorry for my empty morality but of course I assume/hope you'll do honor to your country; behave in a way manner that fits your uniform to the best of your ability in the circumstances in which you act.)

I send care packages, donate generously to the USO, and go out of my way to thank anyone I see in uniform.
I was a military wife for over 20 years and a Family Readiness Group leader commended by the Army for my work.
And thank you for serving!

Being a soldier in 1st Brigade 25th Infantry(Stryker) Army, and just spent 16 months in Iraq, I dont care if people hate having troops in Iraq. But it makes me happy to think that people can hate that we are over there but not hate the guys there, because there isnt anything we can do about being there, just doing what we are told. As long as people appreciate that we are trained to defend thier freedoms I am happy. I dont want their money or their cookies or money. I think a good way of showing appreciation would be to not talk crap about the soldier/airman/seaman/marine. We just follow orders, its your politicians who are telling us what to do.

I send letters and gear to the troops. It's not much but I am no rich man. They are men of principle and deserve better than our country has done for them.
Captain,
You and everyone with an ounce of common sense knows that saying is only good for fertilizer. It is something people say when they have no backbone, scruples, common sense or sense of reality. People who say that are the same people who say that there is no right or wrong, just shades of grey. People who say that are the same people that also have no problem with rules of engagement that limit our soldiers in their ability to do their job and in some cases put them in more danger than they should.
Thanks for the question and your service Captain.
God bless you and yours.
