The standard we recieved at my old shop was 15%, 20% if it was a custom piece.
This fluctuated though...some people would run down the street and grab a pizza for the guys working, one woman would actually cook for everyone in the shop...we even had a few who would submit pictures to magazines, because he didn't have a lot of extra cash...
Most artists will appreciate the consideration, regardless of the amount tipped.

Some artist make up their own prices because so many people do not tip, I generally give $10 for every $100 or at least 10% depending on the artist, if they are good and you stick with a regular person than maybe up to 15-20%

It depends on you I think. My artist has a client that will tip up to 100$...but that man has major cash flow.
I generally tip around 40 bucks. Each of my sessions have cost around 300$ total (3 hours each).

Well, when you pay a lot for a tattoo, sometimes you don't have enough left over. Lol. But, I tipped mine $20 since he had done a good job.

I would say %15. However, if you know the tattoo artist fairly well, gifts may be appropriate.

id say it really depends on how much you enjoy how it looks and the experience in their shop. Like if he keeps getting up and leaving the room for one reason or another, if it felt weird just being in their, how they treated youas a customer..... If all is satisfactory i would give 15-20%

If you mean give the artist extra money after he is finished....up to you. If you mean tipping him over , like cow tipping, definitely....it would be really fun to see their expression after you did it, and to see how fast you can run after your tatt artist gets up and comes after you....
