Most of the wars on the earth right now are over religion. They kill lots of people, but resolve nothing, and are driven by those people obsessed with their faiths, acting like drugged-out idiots. It's time for us to realize the damage these religions do to our world and learn to live without them.

What makes you think that atheists are afraid of something? Being scared of something would not cause someone to become atheist. I am not an atheist because I am afraid of anything. I am an atheist because I think it's reality, and I'd rather be honest than join in a mass delusion. No sarcasm intended.
It is not hard to imagine a god-like being. And it is not hard to rationalize that such a being is loving and all-powerful. You just have to make up some excuse to explain that god is not responsible for all the evil and misery in the world. But surely the mere ability to imagine such a god is not enough to cause someone to truly believe in such a god... is it?
Even if I concede that it is possible that a god exists... it is the fact that in ALL history, there has NEVER been ANY verifiable evidence to suggest that god(s) exist(s), which leads me to reject the notion that god(s) exist(s). Fear has nothing to do with it.
In all honesty, and with complete respect, aren't theists motivated by fear far more than atheists?
I hope this helps.

What scares me about religion?
I'm taking this from Richard Dawkins, but here's the main thing. It teaches people that blind faith is a good thing. It teaches people that it's OK to believe in something that does not have a single shred of evidence to support it. And yes, in most cases, that's harmless and hurts no one. But I still don't think that's good and I don't think it's healthy either.
It also convinces people to stop thinking. At least once every day, someone comes into this section acting all upset and frustrated because they're doing the ONE thing that they've been convinced they SHOULD NOT be doing: They're questioning. They're thinking critically. They're doubting. They're actually taking into consideration the things in the Bible to see if they REALLY make sense. And they're absolutely ashamed, because they've developed this mindset of "thinking = bad; blind faith and acceptance = good". And they ask everyone how they can push these thoughts out of their head and go back to the days when they just accepted everything easily without giving it a second thought. I read these posts on here and they just kill me. I mean, have we really reached a point where people are ashamed to even ask questions about their faith? Go ahead. Think. Question. Doubt. Those are good things; they're not evil and they're not "Satan's attempt to trick you". This is another thing that religion does oh so well, and I can't stand it.

Nothing about religion scares me because it is a man-made phenomena. All it is for is social control of the masses. I just choose not to be controlled.
Deities are not provable by any means, therefore why would I include something like that in my life. My time, my love and my energies are better served on the human being next to me rather than some abstract notion.

That religion will keep people from getting saved (born-again) and missing Heaven.
Thats it.
And it is not really a "I am scared" thing.
It is a sad thing.
Religion can help people do good and be better people. Religion can give you a purpose in life. Some Religions help people a whole lot.
But, Religion CANNOT RECREATE your spirit.
Religion cannot SAVE you.
Jesus is the Only One Who can recreate you, and HE has to have your permission to do so.
All Religions are false when it comes to getting SAVED and making it to Heaven.
You have to Believe in Jesus, not Religions.
Hope this helps.

Nothing scares me about religion, I just don't believe any I am aware of has a clue about what they are talking about. What does scare me is people using their particular religion as an excuse to dehumanize people of other religions or no religion at all to the point that they are able to rationalize killing them.

There's plenty that scares me about religion.
For example individuals who can suggest a deity is "the most kind and the most loving" when their own bible provides massive evidence to the contrary, were they only to read ALL of it.
More broadly because a variety of religions, not just one, provide support for fools and fanatics.
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell.

Here's a serious answer. Prove to MY satisfaction that God exists. Pray to him to prove to ME that he exists. It shouldn't be hard for him. He's all-powerful, so it shouldn't take much effort for him to whisk me to Mars for 30 seconds. If he did that, I'd be his most fervent follower. Until that happens, I have no reason to believe that he exists, and, no, I'm not going to put my faith in him just because others say that it wouldn't hurt. I can spend my time more constructively.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.
Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!
