The 2.4L have problems with exhaust valve sludging. The buildup can be so bad that it keeps the valve open, effectively killing the cylinder vacuum and compression. First, check to see if the spark plug itself is firing, not just at the wire. If it's all OK, start the engine and spray a can of combustion chamber cleaner through the intake.( available at any good auto parts store). Rev the engine just enough to keep the engine from stalling. When the can is almost empty, let the engine idle and stall it with a hard, steady stream of cleaner. Let stand for twenty minutes and restart the engine. The problem should be cleared away.

Perhaps a bad or pluged injector. It could also be a pluged or kinked line to the injector. If you have spark and no hit, then the next thing to check is fuel to the cylinder....right?
