Try playing with your puppy a more. He may need more socialization.. Some puppies take a lot longer to get use to a new house. You puppy may also be scared of loud noises.
Tell your mom to give it a while. Does she socialize with the pup?
We raise pomeranians and bichons and we start socializing with them the day after they are born.

It's easy for puppies to get confused, and thus a little shy or sometimes even a little low in self confidence. He just needs more time to learn about his new family. Try interacting with him more. Take him for lots of walks, and if he won't walk, carry him. He's only a puppy, so he's probably not too heavy just yet. If you're not doing anything, or doing something that he could do with you - involve him. Make him sit with you when you watch TV or even when you're on the computer. You don't want to teach him that he has to be by you all the time, but you don't want to allow his shy behavior either. Dogs and puppies act how they're 'allowed' to act. I'm not saying that this behavior is your fault. I'm just saying that you're the one who needs to step up and take responsibility for it happening. Just being close to you on a frequent basis should bring him around.

Oh that is so sad! I hope she will reconsider. Shyness can easily be overcome with time and patience. I have rescued a lot of dogs and I can tell you that two of them were extremely shy with histories of severe abuse and trauma. One would hit the floor and pee if voices even got raised. The other would foam at the mouth and even had seizures if out where there were too many sounds like traffic or lots of people. She was the sole survivor of a litter thrown out of a car.
I will tell you something about those two very shy dogs, One was completely over it in about a month and was one of the best dogs, very social and friendly after just a month. The other one took a lot more time, nearly a year but got progressively better with time. I got that one when she was five months old. She is so sweet, well-behaved and well trained now, also one of the best I have ever had.
Your dog may be reacting to understandable frustration but I hope your mother will consider being patient and allowing the dog to come out of its shyness in it's own time.
Let the dog approach you, and sometimes you can try and coax it with a toy it likes or some treats. Take your dog for walks everyday and if it is scared of that, act like you expect him to walk with you and it may help. That and you can see if a neighbor can walk their dog with you and your dog.
Sometimes you have to add things gradually to get a well adjusted dog. That one that was thrown out of a window, she now goes to dog parks, for walks anywhere. She only has one remaining hang up. She hates the beeping sound of a truck backing up, like a garbage truck. She just won't be around it. Everything else is fine. Maybe if your mother reads this and realizes how important the dog is to you and how much you love him she will work with him and maybe even get the help of a local trainer. The first one I told you was a dog that had been beaten a lot and rejected by the owner because she was the runt of the litter. My parents didn't help me and I was about 12. I worked with that dog by letting her come to me and by coaxing her with treats, toys, and taking her for daily walks. I first got her used to a collar and leash in the back yard. She hated them at first. Like I said, in one month she was FINE.

It is always difficult when they first leave there mum, brothers and sisters. You have to remember that they have been used to lots of company, cuddling up to its brothers and sisters, they can feel very vulnerable at this precious time, they have been taken away from there safe zone. It is also very difficult to get them to socialize if they have not had there full vaccinations as they should not meet with other dogs as they are not fully immunized. If you can get some small safe toys and play with him and help him readjust this could make a huge difference. Good luck.

It takes time for a puppy to get used to his new home, some take more time than others.
Your mom needs to mellow out and give the puppy time to adjust, remember, it's just a baby.

Aww! Puppys are very shy because they arent socialized very much when they come from a breeder or pet store. It's up to you to make him less shy, because they can't do it on their own and your mother needs to understand this. Heres what we did with our dogs and they loved it-- We took them to the mall on a nice day and put a leash on them and just sat down outside on one of the benchs-- ALOT of people will come up and ask if they can pet your puppy and it will really help to socialize him! try and do that as many times a week as you can and soon he will get used to strangers petting him... and love it! OR try and take him to a nearby dog park, a lot of people will come up to your cute little puppy!
GOOD LUCK, your mom needs to be more patient, try and tell her that puppies aren't socialized at all hardly when they are young and come from breeders and ESPECIALLY pet stores!!!

Sounds to me with such an intolerant mom, that you might be better off finding the puppy a new home. Someone else who can spend the time w/ him and give him a chance to come around.

This happend with my friends dog. It haddn't barked since they got it a few weeks before. Then one day me and my friend started running around playing and in a few moments she barked- AND DIDNT STOP FOR 5 MINUTES. we ran under the covers of her bed covering our ears and she jumped on us barking and licking us all over.
Try getting your dogs spirit up by saying "who's a good doggie, yeah!!" pet it continuasly and run around trying to get it hiper. Thats what me and my friend did to her dog and it worked. She may just be shy. but ever since what happend to me and my friend that day, her dog is not shy anymore and barks all the time (not in a really annoying way though)
try this, it may work!!
Also it can take a while for your puppy to get used to living in a new home. I'ts probably just shy- come on its a puppy its small and probably scared too.
If what i said above isnt working walk your dog around town, get it to socialize with other people. Take it to a dog park perhaps. All dogs need time to adjust!! Tell your mother that. It takes a while but your puppy will adjust sooner or later you cant rush it. Your mom needs patience thats all!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PUPPY!!!

how old is this puppy? Please tell mom that 2 weeks is not enough time. The poor puppy is still getting used to being away from its mother. Let him have a toy stuffed animal with your scent hopefully he will play with it and then associate the smell with you
