Just a couple of questions.
Having problems identifying different aeroplanes - is there a free guide to this on the net?
And how can you tell the difference between a 777 and an a330?

You have to watch the details, basically.

The differences are often in the smaller places. Such as

* shape of the nose
* number of cockpit window panes
* wingtip (winglet? flare? plain? vortex generator?)
* number of wheels in main gear (if landed)
* number of emergency exits (they are marked from outside too) and their relation to the wing
* shape of tail
* size of engine nacelles

In your case, the B777 doesn't have the flare winglet, while the A330 does. And the B777 engines are larger, but that's hard to tell without something to compare it to.

One of my favorite websites is Airliners.net. It has pictures of practically every aircraft ever built on there.

One of the ways that I can tell the difference between the 777 and a330 is the rear of the fuselage. On the 777 it comes back to a vertically flat surface. On the a330 the top of the fuselage comes straight back to a rounded surface. There are many other differences so just take a look at the pics on that site and make some comparisons. You will start to notice the differences in time.
