Yes it is injected with a NEEDLE of course it hurts silly ! It feels like a yellow jacket (bee) is stinging you on the gums. They do TRY to numb it with like ora`gel but it dont work.

The novacaine in a shot hurts a little when they inject it but it goes away in like a minute, the novacaine in the gel does not hurt at all, my dentist calls it magic jelly! LOL. You usally have to have novacaine when you have a tooth pulled or a cavity. Novacaine takes away the pain of pulling and filling a tooth.

Yes, I am not going to lie. But what you feel is not the needle going in, because you can not feel that. You feel the stinging of the medicine going in. Take deep breaths and bring an iPod or something. It will be over soon. And think about this: would you rather they do the procedure with the novacaine to numb you or without?

It actually depends on which tooth they are working at.

If it's your upper teeth, then they inject you right above the tooth which is alil less painful, but if it's you bottom teeth (Especially molars) then they inject you all the way at the back, and you feel some pain on the nerves next to your ear.

Nevertheless, the pain last for 10 or less seconds.

Well, it hurts alittle if they do not numb the gum first with a topical number. If they numb it topically first, then when they give the shot, it feels like alittle prick but nothing horrible. I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled with just local anasesthia and they gave me the shots and it was fine.

I'm not sure, but...

One of my dentists shook my gum as he was injecting me with Novocaine when I had my wisdom tooth pulled. The injection did not hurt.
