no. cold sores are flare-ups caused by viruses. there are some over the counter products available to make them go away faster. your doctor or dentist could prescribe stronger stuff, so ask on your next appointment.

i use a layer of abreva and then a layer of mentholatum and apply it 3x a day and its usually gone by the 3rd day!!

don't think so. it'll burn like hell. they make a special ointment for that.
