I take this time to curse St. Patrick for what he did to my pagan ancestors.. may he spend eternity being forced to listen to high school marching bands warm up and watch old brady bunch reruns! Fie on him!

for a catholic it is celebrated the same as the other saints days -with mass. st patrick is the patron saint of ireland. the first parade wsa held in america, the irish spread throughout the world during the time of the potato famine-millions left for survival. when the irish first entered america they were treated worse than african americans and every other race, working very hard to earn liberty and to be treated as equals the parades displayed irish pride and to this day st patricks day is irish pride and celebrates christianity brought to ireland. christianity was already in ireland but st patrick was very influential within ireland.
shamrock - used to represent the holy trinity,3 leaves 1 stem as in one god as the father son and holy spirit.
snakes- ireland never had snakes due to climate, the snakes represent evil and paganism and so st patrick is attributed with forcing evil from ireland by the power of christ.
celebration and alcohol are now part of the day but is not "the reason for the season" as some say/think. these practices have become a part of almost every celebration around the world.

nicely the reason of that's because a lot of human beings in countries like the U. S. and Canada are of Irish descent. St.Patrick's day heavily isn't as significant a holiday because it replaced into once right here in eire both those days, that's celebrated more beneficial as a pageant than a religious vacation.

Why not? Seems like just as good a reason to celebrate as Christmas or Easter.
