you can try a spray bottle (not previously used for cleaner or anything else) buy it new fill with water and when your dog barks spray it in the face with the water. works realy good.

my neighbors have poms same problem I can' t even use my back yard. they are horrible. They tried banging cans and things . I tried spraying them with a hose. nothing is working. i would say either brake down and buy the bark collar or give the dog up. Try jefferspets.com you maybe able to get a better price. i know i have gotten many things at a better price.

my dog barks a lot too but luckily we don't live in an apartment try getting a squirt gun and squirting it i have hear that works but i have never tried it. i would also try and figure out why she is barking. is she barking when you leave? or just to bark. i would also try and keep her busy with something chews or toys. my dog barks just to bark sometimes so i try to keep her busy with toys in the yard and bones. i hope this helped. i would NOT get her debarked that is crazy or kick her i mean come on there are better ways to fix the problem. good luck

If your dog is quite hyper a squirt gun can seem like a game if not used right, another way of overcoming this is if you can firstly teach your dog to bark by command like "Speak" then you can teach it to stop barking with a release command. (Our dogs release is "Enough",although their training is still in progress.) I think its good to let your dogs bark as its natural for them to protect their territory and if they go quiet when you tell them then even better. It was a behaviourist that helped me out with this info. But for more visit www.dogtrainingbasics.com

Try telling your dog....No!....in a stern voice when it barks.

Do not tell him/her that everything is OK in a soft voice.....like "Its OK ...... it's only the neighbors." Your dog will hear your tone of voice as a reward for barking.....Dogs do not speak english.....Try telling your dog that he/she is a bad dog in a up-beat tone and he/she will wag her/his tail.

Your dog is trying to alert you to sounds and it may be trying to protect you and his territory. He is trying to do his job.

Tell your neighbors that you are trying to work with him and that he is just alerting everyone of a possible intruder and maybe they will be more understanding?

I use to have the same kind of dog it always used to bark. All you have to do is get up every 5 seconds and tell it to shut up.
Hope this helps have a great night Woof woof!!!!!
