Pagan - that's interresting. I never studied that out. I think it would be an interresting study. Personally, I think celebrating birthdays is stupid. Like you had anything whatsoever to do with the thing.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays. They use two scriptures in the bible (Genesis 40:20-22 and Mark 6:21-27) to show people that celebrated a birthday. These people were not worshipping God at all. So, they conclude that it is wrong to celebrate a birthday. They say that true Christians give gifts and celebrate all the times of the year rather than celebrating oneself in a prideful manner once a year. Some Mulsims also do not celebrate Birthdays. They see it as foolishness. Some think the money that is spent on the birthday could be going to better things -- like the poor.

I don't know for sure about all, but I know That Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays and the reason why is stated below:
“The various customs with which people today celebrate their birthdays have a long history. Their origins lie in the realm of magic and religion. The customs of offering congratulations, presenting gifts and celebrating—complete with lighted candles—in ancient times were meant to protect the birthday celebrant from the demons and to ensure his security for the coming year. . . . Down to the fourth century Christianity rejected the birthday celebration as a pagan custom.
See 1 Cor 10:31 so birthday celebrations are not for God's Glory. Birthdays and the Bible, See Gen 40:20-22, Mathew 14:6-10.

I know Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in celebrating birthdays.

They believe they are pagan practices and that the only two places in the Bible where a birthday is mentioned, it is in an unfavorable light.
