Just to correct all these people that seem to think that the AF is a cakewalk...
Yes, we have it better than most people in most branches. But at the same time, I work in a joint service command in the states and the Army, Navy, and Marines stationed with me have it just as good, so a lot of it depends on where you are stationed.
As for AF being "oh so easy" and "short or non-existent deployments"... AF is changing... maybe a few years ago this was the case but not anymore. Standard deployments are being pushed up to 365 days. Additionally, even when deployments were shorter, many AFSCs (career fields) were deploying, returning to the states for a few months, and deploying again shortly after.
I am currently serving for the next year in Iraq. We DO see combat and we ARE on the ground with the other services. We have been here since January and we've already had several injuries, 2 of them serious. So please don't give me that...
As was said, we do have better (ie, more) jobs in the AF if you are looking for something that transitions well into the civilian world. All branches have jobs that do; just we have more.
I wish people's perception of the AF wasn't so skewed (no, i don't mean screwed...). Please be aware that our force is changing and we are right out there with the other services.

It depends on what your looking for. I have friends in every branch and have served in the marines. As far as the best jobs and easiest work goes I'd say the Air Force because you're on a base, no combat, and they have tons of perks. The Navy comes in a close second only because of the 1 year ship time, but one gets to see the world in the Navy. The Marines has the most prestige and is the most difficult branch, I took it because I was looking for a challenge, but when it comes to easy jobs, pay, and perks its probably the worst branch. The army is just an easy version of the marines, and I don't know very much about the Coast Guard.

The Best Branch of the Military Service
A Soldier, a Sailor, an Airman and a Marine got into an argument about which branch of the service was "The Best." The arguing became so heated the four service men failed to see an oncoming truck as they crossed the street. They were hit by the truck and killed instantly. Soon, the four servicemen found themselves at the Pearly gates of Heaven. There, they met Saint Peter and decided that only he could be the ultimate source of truth and honesty. So, the four servicemen asked him, "Saint Peter, which branch of the United States Armed Forces is the best?"
Saint Peter replied, "I can't answer that. However, I will ask God what He thinks the next time I see Him. Meanwhile, thank you for your service on Earth and welcome to Heaven."
Some time later the four servicemen see Saint Peter and remind him of the question they had asked when first entering Heaven. The four servicemen asked Saint Peter if he was able to find the answer. Suddenly, a sparkling white dove lands on Saint Peter's shoulder. In the dove's beak is a note glistening with gold dust. Saint Peter opens the note, trumpets blare, gold dust drifts into the air, harps play crescendos and Saint Peter begins to read the note aloud to the four servicemen:
MEMORANDUM FROM THE DESK OF THE ALMIGHTY ONE
TO: All Former Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines
SUBJECT: Which Military Service Is the Best
1. All branches of the United States Armed Forces are honorable and noble.
2. Each serves America well and with distinction.
3. Serving in the United States military represents a great honor warranting special respect, tribute, and dedication from your fellow man.
4. Always be proud of that.
Warm regards,
GOD, USN (Retired)

It relies upon on what you're finding for. Glory? appreciate? instruction? A occupation? instruction: The AF has the perfect technical instruction for computers and electronics--you may score intense on their skills attempt to qualify however the journey is extremely transferable to the civilian international. The military is stable up there too and then i might say the Coast shield is a distinctive 0.33. the army and Marines are the two warring events or help personel--yet much less of those jobs are marketable. The Air stress is likewise plenty picker in selction than different branches. appreciate: relies upon on what you do--the Marines get the lions share of appreciate. in basic terms puting the uniform on get's oooh;s and ahhhs. Then the army, the Coast shield and definately final is the Air stress-- GLORY: Marines returned. So too the army noticeably particular centers. military could have some great jobs yet no person brags approximately being in the AF. it is the main civilian-like provider there is. occupation: relies upon---people seem to love the Coast shield. They do a great style of issues from drug intervention to saving lives. For enlisted Air stress i think is theabsolute worst of all 5 branches for a 20 3 hundred and sixty 5 days enlistment. The AF is the only provider that doesn't have Warrant officers--an significant occupation threat for enlisted workers who're staying for the long haul--(Warrant officers are very technical spcialists with commisions---they are chosen from mid and senior Sergeants. They rank under 2d Lieutenants yet particularly enlisted ranks. in the army and army is additionally pilots. ) The AF is likewise the only provider that doesn't have NCO status for E-4's. you'll be an E-5 (group Sergeant) to make NCO status and that ought to take 2 mor extra excursions. (NCO's have privilidges--they might subject orders, get extra dorm area and frequently do no longer do grunt paintings; sparkling lavatories, buff the flooring and so on..) in different centers you are able to attain NCO status in 2-3 years. in the AF it ought to take as long as 8-10 years. it quite is an prolonged time to be taking orders as a replace of giving them.

It depends on you. The Marine Corps is the elite branch and gives you bragging rights but it is quite a bit tougher as well. That was my branch and I reccomend it if you want to be a military man, but not if you only plan on a 4 year enlistment. I would consider the Army a last option choice to be honest. The Navy is cool for traveling but your stuck on a ship a lot. The Air Force is the best option if you have a high ASVAB score and want to get training for a career after the military. Good luck.

While talking to a potential recruit, the military recruiter said, "Exactly what kind of job are you looking for in the military?"
The high school kid said, "I'm looking for something with an enlistment bonus of about $20,000, where I won't have to work too hard, and won't have to deploy overseas.
The recruiter said, "Well, what if I could hook you up with a skill that allowed you to come straight in as an E-7, where you'll only work weekdays, and you can have the base of your choice and stay there as long as you want?"
The young recruit sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?"
The recruiter replied, "Yeah, but you started it."

Ok listen, I didn't tell you this, but stay away from the army, the air force is the way to go, they take good care of you. But if you decide to go with the army don't listen to anything your recruiter says, and research everything.

Coast Guard is technically not military; they fall under Department of Transportation. And it wouldn't be a bad choice...at least they are doing something productive right now (fighting drug trafficking, search and rescue, protecting our coastal waters, etc)
As for the military, I wouldn't join at the present moment. I mean, defending our country is one thing. Being used by the government as an expendable political tool to further their self-serving agenda by invading a country that had no WMDs, NO clear ties to Osama, and NO part in the 9/11 attacks is something else entirely. Not for me, thanks.

Airforce -- easiest most family oriented
3-4 mnth deployment and the best regualr hours of the military.
Oh, and their pt is a joke.
So if youre a lazy butt, and have a high GT score, go air force
If you want to party all the time go navy
Army is diffferent as they will put you in harms way if you are prepared or not.
Marines, you will train and see combat
