Is it a Colt .38 Super? Then yes, the asking price is about right. It is a somewhat dated but good caliber that was overlooked by the handgun aficionados. It was very popular south of the border where the government prohibited the possession of military designated calibers (such as the .45acp) by civilians. It was also preferred by many because it held one more round than the same pistol in .45acp. Also, for the longest time all the .38 Super ammo you could buy was 130 grain full metal jacket which diminished its desirability.
Sounds like a good buy.

I dont know about the price but they are a fine gun the polish throws me off sounds like it would devalue it if it was blued orig maybe im just not understanding your meaning asuming its a colt
I would think more around 450 to 600 but its not mine so i wont price it
