What makes something 'mine'?

For example, is this 'my' identity, if so, where did I get it?
And what about this being 'my' body? If so, where did I get it, what if the atoms that composed it were someone else's body a long time ago? Isn't that stealing?

This is an interesting question. I've read that some Aborigine tribes have no concept of personal ownership. So if you give a t-shirt to one guy, it's not "his" shirt, but the tribe's shirt. So much for the 10 commandments and "Thou shalt not steal" being "universal" laws that apply to all people and all cultures.

Your identity came from your parents, your body came from a seed planted in your Mothers womb and it grew to be you! Forget about that atom thing, that is a bunch of hogwash!

A person exists apart from their body in spiritual dimensions. We share atoms in this physical world. Could it be that some of those molecules of H2O that you were drinking today were once a part of my spit?

Considering that everything passes away with time, including the body, nothing can be truly ours. If it was truly ours to possess, we would never be able to lose it. So the only thing that you truly possess is you.

While your question is interesting, it ultimately has nothing to do with religion. It is on these grounds that I refuse to give a response.
