Animals are instinctively afraid of fire. Hold her and reassure her but take her into another area where she can't smell the smoke. Hopefully you have some air spray (Lysol or Oust) and can spray the kitchen. She is panting because of fear. She may have been exposed to some fire symptoms before you got her so she may never be calm in such circumstances.

She might be just scared, if there was only a little bit of smoke I wouldn't worry. If there was a lot of smoke and you think there's a reasonable chance she's breathed a lot in then she should go to the vets. It might be unrelated to the smoke - does she have any other medical problems you know about?

I would take her to a calm, quiet room with low lights, offer her water and see how she does for the next ten minutes. Don't stress her, just sit calmly with her and see how she does.

If she continues panting/trembling, seems to have real problems breathing or gets at all worse then definitely ring the emergency vets straight away.

Good luck with her, let us know how she does.

Your dog is freightened. Smoke naturally scares all animals. Get him outside with water, and take him for a walk to get his mind off the smoke. Ignore his attitude and exude self confidence. When you are worried, so is he. They sense it. Let the smoke clear while you are on a "normal" walk.

Good luck

Could she have smoke inhalation? Some animals can be harmed by burning Teflon. I would get the dog to the vet right away.

Your dog is saying: "Take me to the vet immediately, I'm ill!"

Yes she might 'just have smoke inhalation' - but this can affect dogs in a variety of ways. It is NOT advisable to feed dogs bananas, and there is no medical evidence this will remedy smoke inhalation.

Why are you still sitting there? VETS!

i think that she has gotton too much smoke in her system.... MAKE HER DRINK ALOT OF WATER AND ALLOW HER TO EAT BANANAS.. even though she might get a stomach ache and may leave a really stinky present for you bcuz of the banana, she will be fine. That happens all the time at my house bcuz my brother always burns dinner

Call your vet, sounds like she is going into shock, get her some fresh air. Is it possible that the animal has eaten something?

I would just contact your local vet. But if you don't have one it is probaly scared that it might happen again. So just give it a lot of love till you contact your vet.
