Stick them with pins. You can volunteer to stick them with pins, but be discreet.

If you can give blood, you may be able to donate bone marrow. You can sign up with the bone marrow registry (if you are in the USA), submit a blood sample to a lab, and they will contact you if you are a preliminary match. The first tests are very broad, as the more specific tests are expensive and are only done if you are a possible match for a person who needs bone marrow. I signed up years ago, but have only come close to donating once -- turned out I wasn't a close enough match. It involves, I understand, a short visit to a hospital (overnight, I think), but can save someone's life.
Or you can give money -- locally, or internationally. For the latter, try www.kiva.com -- great site that allows you to pick an individual person to help.
If you have any kind of volunteer agency in your area that coordinates efforts, contact them. Maybe you can take senior citizens grocery shopping, run errands, deliver meals on wheels, volunteer at a soup kitchen, collect school supplies for kids whose families can afford to buy them, etc.

Local libraries, zoos, aquariums, and other such places use volunteers. Local schools use volunteers for reading programs. Many civic organizations always need volunteers.
Hospitals use volunteers at the front desk or to pass out magazines, churches need volunteers if you are a church member for various things. The local Veteran's Hospitals can probably use volunteers and the Red Cross needs volunteers in various areas. A program called CASA or Guardian Ad Litem is always seeking volunteers to work with children in foster care and be sure they are treated well by the court system. The local Domestic Abuse Center uses volunteers also. There are many others, check your local library, local newspaper or call United Way.

give clothes, food or money to homeless shelters, even old coats and gloves for winter, shoes depending the condition. if you think you have to many blankets and pillows you haven't used in a long time. you could donate to a local thrift store that raises money for a good cause.plus other items as well. make sure they don't destroy what doesn't sale, but that they pass it forward to help other directions. give old books to literacy programs. volunteer at youth centers, be a mentor for a kid, help teach reading to people who didn't get the help they needed when they were younger. help in scouts, a sport team, even see if someone just needs a ride to a store to get grocery's. volunteers can be a small step or a big step, a hand out or a hand to lift up spirits. you can do many things that don't involve money , time, effort and kindness can a volunteer without the word, but an action that people can thank.good luck.

It sounds like you don't enjoy donating blood.
Not everything has to be enjoyed, but it can be.
First, sit down.
Make a list of your strengths and gifts and resources.
Everyone has strengths, that it why each person can contribute.
He Here's an example:
You like to read, you can do some volunteering reading for an organization that puts books on cassette and disc for the blind.
www.rfbd.org
You can find some senior citizens and help them write letters to loved ones.
Maybe you enjoy driving, so help someone with errands or grocery shopping.
And, if you like finding bargains, ppl would love your help with shopping.
Maybe you like children: so volunteer with a boy's/girl's club, coach a team, help with scouts, babysit for single parents, volunteer at YMCA, summer camp, tutoring, etc.
Maybe you like office work, orgs are always looking for peop e to answerphones and file.
Can you speak two languages? Bilingual volunteers are important.
Maybe you have many "Things." So, give them to shelters, libraries, you could seen sell them on Ebay and give the money to your fave charity or org.
House cleaning and yard maintenance are always in need.
fund raising is a must, so if you enjoy being a salesman/woman, orgs would love to have you on board.
Find community action groups in your area. Ask them what kind of help they need.
prepare/serve gfoo for soup kitchens.
visit ppl in hospitals/nursing homes.
pick up trash in run down areas.
offer skills for free, such as music lessons, decorating tips, je health advice, etc.
Help rebuild old computers to work for agencies that have few funds and can't afford new computers.
Get friends together and offer a day or so of free make-overs and manicures to ppl who can't afford them.
Or, have ppl pay for them and give the money to your fave cause.
Be a mentor/big bro/siss. If musically tallented, put on entertainment special or help other children do this.
Offer free car maintenance or washing.
Hope that this helped.
THis is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Thank you for donating blood. You may want to help out in a nursing home, reading the paper or even a book to someone.
You can help out children who are sick.
There is so many communities that you can volunteer. Call some up in your area and see what you can do. I give my clothes and my children clothes to charity for abuse children.
I donate my dress up clothes to girls in high school that don't have money for prom dress.
There so much one can do. Just look around you. I am sure that you can find something to help out.
Hope..............

Check with the United Way or whatever group keeps track of the not for profits in your area. My foundation always could use someone that can help clean up our grounds, or people who can clean the building, people that can paint or repair the building. Check out the names of the non-profits in your area. The ones that are not well know always need help - sometimes even inside in the office.
And keep donating blood that is very important! Blessings to you!

I suggest you contact your local volunteer center. They can connect you with all sorts of fun volunteer activities that match your interests and meet real community needs. The projects can be one-time, short-term, or long-term. Volunteer centers also have access to all sorts of different non-profit organizations within your local community, and can connect you with an agency that matches your personal beliefs and goals.
Here are some links to help you get started:
http://www.handsonnetwork.org/our-network/
http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/find_center.cfm
http://national.unitedway.org
Through my volunteer center, I tutor children at the library, work at the food bank and children's shelter, clean up parks and beaches, and a lot of other stuff. There's a great variety of different things that you can do to help your community.
Good luck!

You can help the Red Cross, not just by donating blood, but also organizing the blood donations. You could also help the Humane Society for animals or even just offer help to a neighbor with cleaning, cooking, painting, mowing, pet sitting, etc.
If you live in a neighborhood that has parties (Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc), call them and ask to see if you could help decorate, lead it, or even make treat bags.
