The song is called "My sweet Lord" by: George Harrison. Ever heard of it? Anyway, it goes " I really want to see you, my Sweet Lord, I really want to be with you, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!!! But, then towards the end it starts saying "Krishna, Krishna, Hallelujah, Krishna Krishna" What is Krishna and is this a Christian song or not one that I should be listening to?

George Harrison was a Hare Krishna, and a deeply spiritual man, in the 70's more progressive churches played it all the time, and just left out the Hare Krishna part, the song can stand alone without that. The context of where it is played and who is playing it gives it new meaning, like when they played "I will follow him" in the movie Sister act, gave the song a completely new meaning from what was originally written. I think My sweet Lord came out about 1972...The Hare Krishnas are a branch of the Hindu Faith.

No, it's not a Christian song. Krishna is a Hindu god.
Also, the song was popular in the the '70s not the '60s.

George Harrison wrote it for his guru. It is not typically a Christian song. But I guess if you want to co-opt it and delete or change the Hare Krishna stuff you could.

That song has deluded a lot of people over the years, what they do not reliaze is that Krishna is ( Harry Krishna,) go do some research on him,and you will find your answer. The song is totally un- christian.
Hope this helped.and it is refreshing to see that you are concerned about what goes into your mind, and makeing sure it is christian, that speaks a lot about who you are.

I say, listen to the song. If it makes you feel good, you like it, and you are not harming anyone, go for it. I think that during the 60's the world was in turmoil due to Vietnam, the Cuban Missle Crisis, etc. People turned to music (among other things) for comfort. As for Krishna, I'm not sure what that means.
