Try the following things:
1.If it gives you the option, try to find your files manually.
2.Purchase the windows 2000 starter CD for a low price and reinstall everything.-will take time-
3.Purchase a restoration CD for a bit more-will be a bit shorter-
4.If all else fails, see an expert of some kind.

1. If you can connect to Internet
Download item 3 from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm.
Go through the list for other tweaks/problems.
OR
2. As soon as you start the computer Press F8
select from the menu
command Prompt. when C:/ appears type DIr/p and see what is available.
Then try C:/win if Windows does not boot
select
Bootlog.Txt
or step by step.booting
At least you will know what files are required. !

Windows 2000 pro is the ultimate platform yet to this day. Couple things, I had this problem with one of my HP computers and simply called HP and for a small charge they sent me the complete restore CDs for the computer. I think it cost me less than thirty dollars. I could not take it to a store for anywhere near that.

this isn't a clean problem. I actually have seen it many circumstances. that's posibly a hardware problem ( ram, undesirable sectors on not straightforward stress, or similar complications ) yet ME has memeory accesses topics neways... between the finest issues as a lot as date on win 2k and xp. in spite of the undeniable fact that, that signifies that that's likely a application problem earlier a hardware issue. in case you want to get those information your gonna ought to artwork for them or pay for them. you're taking your hard drive to a save and they can right away eliminate and burn the information to disk for you. yet an option decision is to get a 2d not straightforward stress to position in homestead windows to and then you actually have more beneficial storage. yet an option decision is to position in w/o a format. counting on your homestead windows disk you may or received't have this function. Many OEM disks do not have this function. My recomendation is to study your equipment specs adverse to the minimum requirments of winXP. in case you may't installation it w/o improve then you definately ought to look at homestead windows 2k. that's a sturdy OS. And once you should spend the two hundred funds to improve your equipment that replaced into reported earlier tie it to a rope and promote it as a deliver ancor minus your not straightforward stress. bypass to wal-mart and get a three hundred dollar computer which will burn the paint off that case. in case your making use of a homestead windows ME equipment then the most inexpensive new computer you'll locate can be a 50x improve... without exageration. desire this helped.

Can you say "Uh-Oh" real loud and smack your fore head?
You'll need your install CD to repair this, there is no system restore and somehow I doubt that you make regular backups.
Lost your restore CD, even more of an "Uh-Oh"
Not very helpful, but ... honest.
