Strictly speaking, it means "laugh out loud" and RTFLOL is rolling on the floor laughing out loud. It may not be the actual case, but it is intended to let the other person know that you found their comment funny, whether you are being sarcastic or not. Or you could be laughing at yourself. You don't actually need to laugh out loud for it to be appropriate to write in an IM or email. Also, your questons aren't stupid and it seems that you feel frustrated. We all do at times. LOL is a very common, easy to use way of saying i like what you said, or that you find it humorous. I've been using the net for over fifteen years and I still don't get all the slang. BTW is by the way, BRB is be right back. things like that are simple, but if you've never heard them before, just ask. i do. and if they're rude, then you don't need to talk to them! so there! :)
your questions are welcomed. thank you for asking.
