My yorkie does not alert me when she has to go potty if she is not in her crate. She is 7 months old. She is strictly crate trained and the only time she is allowed out is when she eats and goes potty. Sometimes she will eat and run away without me noticing then poop in one of her preffered spots, like under the dining room table. Why doesnt she alert me that she has to go??? When she is in the crate she is FINE with alerting me (obviously)

She's ONLY allowed out when she eats and goes to the bathroom?!! Maybe you should let her out more and work with her to learn her behavior.

Try this:
For 10 straight days, first thing in the morning take her out to the same spot to use the bathroom. During the day take her out several times to the same spot.
Then on the 11th day, go to the door, and stand there. Wait till she shows some kind of emotion before you open the door (wiggling, barking, pawing, etc). From then on for the next few days, every time you go to the door, make her "work for it". Make her show emotion before you open the door. That should be the way she alerts you from then on when she needs to go.

She only alerts you when she's in her crate, because that is her home and bed and she's old enough to know that she does not want to dirty there. Outside of the crate, even though she is not 'outside' is fair game.
You have to let her out more often. Play with her and make her feel that the whole house is her home. And pay attention to her body language
When I'm retraining dogs, supposedly because they are dirty in the house, I usually find that it is because the owners are not paying attention to the fact that the dog is alerting them.
I had one dog that used to simply stare at the door as if it would magically open for him. Once the owners were told about this behavior they realized that the dog had been telling them he had to go out.
Good Luck
