While freezing fish quickly keeps more cell walls intact, the opposite is true for thawing. Defrost gradually so cells are disturbed less and fewer juices leak out. The best way to thaw is overnight in the refrigerator. Avoid thawing at room temperature. If you must thaw fish quickly, here are safe options: seal fish in a plastic bag and immerse in cold water for about an hour, or microwave (yes the microwave is safe just keep an eye on it) on the "defrost" setting, covered with "cold" water, stopping when fish is still icy but pliable.

You need to put it in a pot of cold water in a zip lock bag for about an hour. Do not use a microwave or hot water, this will cook the fish and ruin it and kill the flavor. Also, you could cook them frozen but you would need to cook it longer and i think defrosting and using this method benefits this fish better.

The quickest way I can think of is to let it set in some cold water. Be sure to use cold water because hot will start to cook it,and the microwave will scorch it.Or you can always just bake it in the oven, you don't really have to defrost.

Your talapia should defrost with cold water and probably takes about 10 minutes or so for the fillet.

Make sure it is cool water as warm and hot water can cook the thin parts of the fish before it is totally thawed. then dry patting between paper towels.
