Hi!

K2 is not a digital camera, it is a film camera.

Your best option for a Canon DSLR is probably the Rebel XT, I have one and have enjoyed it greatly, here are some sample pics I've shot with it.

The Rebel K2 is a film camera. It's a pretty basic model but it does plenty for about 99% of all photographers. It has autofocus and all the other bells & whistles you'd expect - or you can set it to opetate fully manual if you want.
If you want a digital version, get the new Canon Rebel XTi (a.k.a. 400D), or the cheaper Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D) which was discontinued last year.
Other budget level models are the Nikon D40 and the Pentax K110D.
All four of these digital models get good reviews and they're all good value for money - it's largely a matter of personal preference.
