The Colombians are eager to build the road, but Panamanians aren't. Remember that it's not only one country involved here.

Right now Panama is careful for 2 main reasons:
1. The problems arising from the civil unrest between the government and the armed militia in Colombia.

2. Aftose fever which is a form of disease affecting cattle, which has been under control for more than 70 years because of that natural barrier that the Darien Gap offers.

My opinion is that we still have a long way to go until that happens.

hi John, The Darien hollow between Panama and Colombia is about 60 miles huge and the most dense jungle in the international, there aren't any roads in any respect. The Darien hollow is amazingly wealthy in biodiversity, and a street may damage each thing. i imagine the finest time someone crossed the Darien hollow by ability of motorcar (4x4) replaced into in 1996 and took over 365 days. This replaced right into a serious day vacation. in spite of the undeniable fact that, at present you won't be able to attempt this anymore. The Darien hollow in southern Panama is a constrained section and also you at the prompt are not allowed to enter.

Within 20 years, they will bridge the Darien Gap, that is guaranteed.

That is right because there is a deep jungle between this two countries (in the continuity that you see).
