Is it true that because the vet gave my cat her vaccines (normal kittie vaccines) and then found out she was pregnant, that the kittens will come out deformed. The vet said that she has to have her operation, and pretty much get rid of the unborn kittens a.s.a.p. because they wont come out normal, is this the truth or is the vet just saying this to garantee i get her fixed and he gets the money. And yes, I'm aware that there are many unwanted cats these days, but she was schedualed for her appointment to be fixed, but ran away a few weeks before.

It would be of great help if you could find a holistic vet in your area to consult with. I know that vaccinations can be very toxic to a cat. Holistic vets recommend that you give a supplement call Thuja to a cat a week before the shots, when getting the shots and a week after. Whether or not this might protect unborn kittens after the fact, I don't know. A holistic vet might be able to provide other solutions to try.

If you decide to let nature take its course then I would recommend you put your mom on a regiment of feline vitamins. Boosting her immune system may help out the situation. Try http://www.onlynaturalpet.com for a list of vitamins for pregnant cats.

I wish you and your kitty the best of luck.

Yes, what the vet says is true. Vaccinating a cat while pregnant can cause serious birth defects.

One of the technicians I used to work with had a cat that was born with brain damage because the mother was vaccinated while pregnant. Her special needs cat had lots of health problems and had no depth perception, so she would always miss when she tried to jump on things or hurt herself when she tried to jump off of things.

Sadly, it's true, and the vet is not just trying to abort the kittens. The Feline leukemia vaccine is really detrimental to the fetus, and absolutely essential for the adult. It causes the babies to die shortly after birth. You may as well get her spayed as early in the pregnancy as possible, as the kittens will get "fading kitten syndrome" and it will be very heartbreaking to watch. Please don't let anyone else get deterred from vaccinating their cats from leukemia because of this fact, because it's a deadly and contagious disease.

Yes, get the kittens aborted and get your cat spayed. It truely is heartbreaking to see baby kittens born when this happens. They are very deformed and probably in pain. He should have checked if she was pregnant first but sometimes its hard to tell, especially if the cat is not far along or if it is a young cat.

It happened to me and my cat lost her kittens. I think she ate them by the time I came home from work. If you can't afford an operation, let her give birth. They will either be ok or your cat will take care of them herself, its instinct on her part.
