I am a hair puller too and i stopped for a while when i did a manicure and it was hard to grab the hair with longer nails.
I also tried tying my hair as ofter as possible. I also tried moisturizing the middle where i pull most to make it slippery and harder to grab. I also pull less when i get braid or extensions on.
You could try the above and hope one works. Good luck!

Let's try a different approach. Are you on any psychotropic medications? I knew a 7-yr-old who did this, and once she was taken off of a particular medication, she stopped. Unfortunately, I really don't know what medication she was on, so I couldn't tell you. But it's true!

my wife does this too to get rid of the white and gray hair..and she dyes it too..i told her if she pulled all her white hair she would be bald..she is 55 years old..i just cut my hair off with a clipper and i am thinking about shaving my head..its only dead protein anyway..

A lot of people with OCD tend to pull out their hair because it's relaxing. You should talk to a doctor to see if you have OCD.

If it is because you are stressed the only way to stop doing it is to deal with the underlying stress

wear it up or wear hats?
or put loads of product in it- so its harder to separate and tug out...
