You must be born of the Spirit to be saved. The Holy Spirit regenerates (re-creates) a person's spiritual condition and gives them eternal life.

God is Spirit. (John 4:24)
Man is a spirit being, but his spirit is dead; that is, cut off from the Eternal Uncreated Life of God, because of sin.
Spirits are eternal beings which enter into an eternal fixed state after the body dies. This is the Biblical doctrine of eternal judgment (Hebrews 6:2).
Jesus said unless a man is born again, "he cannot see the kingdom of God." He went on to explain "that which is born of the flesh is flesh; that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." (John 3:3,6)
Only by the operation of the Holy Spirit upon the dead human spirit can a person be restored to a living relationship with God.
Therefore it says: "And this is eternal life, that they may know You (the Father), the only True God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
(John 17:3)
This change comes about as an act of grace, through faith, in the proclamation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thus Jesus said: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me (God the Father) has eternal life, and will not be condemned, but has passed out of death, into life." (John 5:24)
Therefore, "You must be born again." (John 3:7)

We all have the spirit in us, whether we want it or not. It is just that most are ignorant of it's presence. The spirit is the only part that lives on, the body and soul both die.

The spirit has always been in you, but the release of the "captive" spirit inside you needs a healing,a rejuvenation, a release to really find out what is really going on.

well, if there is no spirit in your soul, then you dont believe, and therefore you cannot be saved. you need the bridge to God, which is Jesus's spirit. If you dont have the spirit, it is impossible to be saved. Jesus is the spirit. he is like the bridge to Heaven.

*If you dont have a bridge across the crevasse, then it is impossible to be saved, for you cant jump over a crevasse.

We ALL have a spirit...God gave it to us when he created us. AFTER, AFTER, AFTER we get saved we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit who is God in spirit form. He comes and dwells in our hearts and guides us in everything we do.

A person has to accept forgiveness for sins through the shed blood of Jesus Christ in order to be saved. This is because our sin separates us from God who is holy.

God created us to live in his presence and to walk and talk with him in a very personal way. Sin separated Adam and Eve from God and separates us still.

God sent Jesus as a blood sacrifice to die for our sins on our behalf, so that, through Jesus we might be holy and once again walk and talk with God and live in his presence.

When we accept forgiveness through the shed blood of Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit as a confirmation of that decision and as a guide and counselor to follow after Jesus.

Those who live without the blood sacrifice remain separated from God and from his Holy Spirit in life, and when they die, they die in their sins. Those sins separate them from God for eternity.
