There are 3 heavens .The Atmosphere around us,space and heaven itself.Everything in the "Heavens" is included, which is stars and planets, nebulas etc.
That very verse "In the beginning,God created the heavens and the earth". That alone could encompass millions of years before you start on verse 2.

There is ONLY one heaven. The other planets might have been formed naturally along the way. As you can see it says God created the heaven and the Earth .. which both can support life. Why would he create pointless other planets? Which supports my theore that they were formed naturally.

Hebrews also says that all things were created by Him... so taken together with Genesis, God created the heavens (unspecified number) and planets, as well as the earth. It's best to consider all verses relating to a subject in the Bible rather than picking and choosing one verse out of context... God bless you.

Apparently there are 7 heavens, according to the show "7th Heaven." There weren't any creators of the planets, that's where gravitons collectively gave a magnetic field to attract other pieces of rock and stuff to make a planet. No one can "create" a planet. Duh.

In a dictionary, see "human".

The word "heavens" in this context means the universe and the other planets and stars that it contains. They are not enumerated because the Torah was written for those on Earth.

Ha...astoundingly good thought. Makes me wish I'd thought it first. You can almost see the assembled council of deities, can't you?
"Right...bit of hush please. Right, thank you ladies and gentlemen. As you all know, we're about to build a universe, so I need to divide up the jobs. Venus, you good for a bit of construction? Lovely, thanks. Mars, can I tempt you? Thank you kindly. Now...there's this little bluey-greeny snot-coloured thing, and between you and me ladies and gentlemen, this one...it's gonna be trouble. Where's Yahweh? What do you mean, he had to nip out to the bathroom? Honestly, whoever heard of a deity with a dodgy bladder? Right, well that's sorted then, he can have the snotball planet, all those in favour, say I am the way, the truth and the life..."

Most modern translations say 'Heaven' In the 17th Century it was a plural word. Language develops.(You can, if you wish, even spell bEginning with an I instead of an E (It has not caught on yet)

In the realm of darkness, there is a heaven for each Archon (ruler), there are 7 Archons and 7 corresponding heavens. In the realm of light, heaven is called the pleroma.
