I have been using Proactiv cleanser which has really cleared my skin up. I am wary of using a moisturiser that will set it off again. Any suggestions appreciated.

Neutrogena puts out a good one called Oil-Free Moisturizer. OR if you don't mind the pricey Clinique, you can go for their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, which is $23.00 with the pump and $11.50 in the tube. This gel version of their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion is oil free, so it'll do the job without triggering your acne. Just remember that whatever moisturizer you settle with be sure it's oil-free. Good luck!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Try the Control Corrective skincare line. They have some really good products for acne prone skin. Try the Oil-Free Healing Lotion, it is a non-comedogenic daily moisturizer with a very light texture. It is designed to balance and normalize skin. Oxygenated products are also really good for acne prone skin. Good Luck!!!!!

Proactive is a very stong benzoyl peroxide based wash it tends to dry out your skin...and bleach your skin and neck.... "Nutraderm lotion" the orginal will not clog pores.. or leave anytype of residue on your skin will have to ask for it .. and not the new stuff the orginal... i am going to go ahead and copy and paste .. my acne treatment though cause.. proactive is not good stuff... will cause drying.. wrinkles.. skin bleaching.. etc.. so here ya go...
THIS WORKS FAST & CHEAP!!!
I used Tetracyclin, Proactive, Retina A and had many expensive facials with less than good results.
This has worked for me and many many other happy people. Go to pharm.,Drug store, or Walmart,
buy "PURPOSE" bar of soap - Blue box - Made by Johnson & Johnson - wash your face with this
2-3x's per day. Also pick up a LOW strength Benzoyl-peroxide cream, apply the cream by dabbing
to the individual blemishes.... DONT rub it in works using a oxidation/reduction reaction...DONT over
use this or put anywhere else on your face.. It will cause drying and make you look worse. Also, If need
which probably will for moisture ASK FOR "NUTRADERM lotion" - the orginal not the new stuff, this works
great and wont clog pores or leave a residue on your skin...Additonal TIPS: acne, pimples, etc are
frequently cause by a bacteria or hormone issues.... DONT PICK POP POKE (your hands are the
dirtiest part of your body) and will cause: infections, spreading of germs, more breakouts and scarring
DONT EVER listen to people online who tell you to scrub your sensative skin or use harsh chemicals
such as: Lemon juice, vinagar, alcohol, etc... DONT EVER use that APRICOT CRAP!!! DONT USE
PROACTIVE- this is expensive and harsh it may kill the bacteria cause also Benzoyl based wash but
will irritate skin and cause bleaching of face and neck.... Other similar treatments may work.. also
things such as Accutane but have serious side effects.... THIS WORKS FAST AND CHEAP!!! I no
longer get expensive facials, take oral antibiotics, or even NEED makeup... I am very happy - Have
very good skin... and have many many other happy friends... THANKS again to my WONDERFUL
DERMATOLOGIST... TRY THIS!! GOOD LUCK.... PS. "PURPOSE" costs about $3

Don't use a moisturiser - it will set it off again - you don't need to moisturise it just use toner or if it becomes too dry put some E45 on it overnight
