"Best" as far as what?

The most desirable is probably Screaming Eagle.

My Fav? Schramsberg

Some good ones: Caymus, Cain, Dunn, Twomey & Navarro. Silver Oak and Stag's Leap are quite popular and have been known to produce a nice wine.

California? It really depends on your tastes. Right now Sterling Vineyards are getting rave reviews for their reds.
