No, that's not corny at all. This will be an adjustment for both of you. It's good that you're both trying. Even it feels forced at first, eventually it will be normal and y'all will be comfortable around each other. Good Luck!! Have fun!

That's not corny at all, he is trying to form a bond and let you know he has accepted you and wants to have a good relationship with you. Coming for a step-parents point of view, I found it difficult to find my place in my new relationship with a mother and her son and so I tried to find a common ground for her son and I to share so we would be able to accept each other and form some sort of bond. Granted I was still the step-parent but I found it important to have his acceptance and know that he liked me. So it sounds like your soon to be step-dad is looking for that same acceptance and knowing you have accepted him and aren't just trying to make your mom happy by putting on a false front is important. I hope you both get along well and are happy together.

You are one of the lucky ones. Many step dads or soon to be ones dont want to have anything to do with the kids. Some others beat the kids or molest them. So no, it is not corny at all.

so corny it's cool. enjoy it. did you have fun? even while you may have been dreading your friends coming by and seeing you? come on, it was fun, right? do you know how many kids never get the chance to play catch with their dad's or stepdads? i'll bet it made your mom happy to see you getting along. it's hard to bring a step-parent into the picture. it's even harder being the step-parent. i'm glad to hear you are willing to meet him 1/2 way.

You got more out of your step dad than I did my real dad. I think it's cool not corny.

I don't think so. He is justing showing you that he wants to bond with you just like you do with your real dad. Since you live with him now, then in a sense he is your "dad"

What makes a dad is not just "biology" but the "amount and quality of attention" the man gives to the child. What makes a true dad is the amount of maturity he shows the child.

Yep, but it's a start. He's going to be your step dad. You two will not automatically be a family, it will take time. He's trying to make an effort. Things will take time. Give him and yourself a chance. Show him some things you enjoy.

Sometimes the world is corny, sometimes it's cheesy. It's better that way.
