Yes, it should help a little. You may have already taken classes getting your A.S. that are required for your B.S. You probably already took care of many of your general ed classes as well. Also, many of the classes you took will prepare you for future classes as you will already be familiar with many of the topics you will learn about getting your Bio degree.

More and more Biology Departments are becoming Molecular Biology and Genetic oriented however there are liberal arts schools where a degree in biology still involves working with ecology or the biology of plants or animals. Check with the school that you plan to attend to see if your credits will transfer and in what department that you would best be assigned to. Several universities have moved plant science and animal science into the Wildlife/Agriculture/Forestry departments and are no longer part of a general biology degree. Send for copies of the school catalog for the schools that your are interested in and then compare the course you have completed with the ones in the biology department. If you plan on a degree in Biology, I would strongly encourage you to take Gen Chem, Organic Chem, Intro to Physics and Calc 1 your local school. You may want to take whatever biology courses that will transfer also.
