A video is something you can put into a video player and watch it on a screen. Usually videos are movies, and shows, but sometimes people make home videos that are usually their childhood or some memory.

It means, or used to mean, wide band, i.e. a wide band of frequencies.

To transmit or receive or otherwise handle a t.v. picture a high bandwidth is necessary.

A video amplifier is simply another name for a wideband amplifier. I have a voltmeter which can measure the voltage of frequencies from d.c. to several megahertz. To do this it has a video amplifier inside. Nothing to do with t.v. or "pictures."

Thre lay press got hold of the word, thought it clever, and started (mis)using it.
