I would like for someone to explain to me the term "soulmate"... souls, if they exist, certainly can't mate... breed.... it's impossible.... I think it's a term that's used to mean somebody you get along with really well, like a best friend, that you also have a strong romantic connection with. There could still be a huge problem in a relationship like that. One wants kids, the other doesn't. One has a belief that the other doesn't have, and that causes a permanent, unfixable problem. Lots of reasons... When you're a bit older, you'll see that it's possible to love more than one person in a lifetime, and that a "soulmate" is just something you build up in your mind, possibly to the detrement of that "soulmate" when you find out they are just a person like anyone else.

Maybe that person's boyfriend or girlfriend wants to do other things in life that the soulmate doesn't like yes/no to children, where they live, what their goals are. Someone will break up with a soulmate if it means achieving dreams they may not reach as well with that person. It is cruel but someone may want to go out with a man or woman who will help them in their career than spend a less successful life with you.

Life is complicated, might be a "soulmate" but the timing is wrong for one or both..... Life isn't always fair! And sometimes it seems perfect at the start, and you can be blinded with the dreams of "soulmate" when in fact they are far from it.

Well...they might not think the person is thier soulmate. soulmates are often a one way thing...the girl thinks they are and the guy just says 'yeah'.
Also someone might not think they are good enough for thier soulmate.

i think soulmate's come in the form of friendships, relatives. people who share something common on a level beyond the physical attractions or chemical attractions or charm, etc.
one might say...he/she is my soulmate and also my lover...
or one might say...he/she is my spouse but we're not really soulmates
Example: I had a friend in high school or a friend in grammar school. we had so much in common...one a guy, one a girl
but neither would i marry! though they were very easy to get along with on many levels...one was a guy I couldnt see a future with him...the other, a girl friend...well, Im not a lez.
Now, do u understand..this is only my philosophy.

Because the 'someone' and the 'soulmate' do not agree on who their soulmate is.

Perhaps they are not comfortable in their own skin and have a problem they feel their l soulmate wouldn't understand or accept them for. Perhaps they feel their soulmate diserves better than them.

some relationships can be so intense..that it's too much.....
they become scared..of exactly the very person they are attracted to....and instead of realizing this..
they make the decision not to be with a soulmate....
it's sad..but true...and has happened to me twice.
