it saves the irs money and time when e-filed but yet they charge mid income. kinda like direct deposit no paper work = savings company $$$$

They already offer Free File to taxpayers making less than 52,000.00 a year

The IRS doesn't charge anyone a fee to e-file. If you go to a commercial for-profit company like H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt, or to a CPA, then THEY will charge you a fee - fair enough for them to do, they're in business to make money.
