DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE BREED, 1 YEAR FOR SMALL BREED DOGS AND 2 YEARS FOR LARGE. THE REASON BEING THAT PUPPY FOOD PROVIDES EXTRA VITAMINS AND MINERALS FOR A HEALTHY LONG LIFE. LARGE BREEDS TEND TO NEED MORE TIME TO REACH THEIR MATURE SIZE, AND YOU DONT WANT TO START THEM ON ADULT FOOD UNTIL THEIR BODY IS FINISHED GROWING. IF THEY GAIN WEIGHT TO QUICK THEN IT PUTS ADDITIONAL RISK ON THEM BEING OVER-WEIGHT AND THAT LEADS TO MORE PROBLEMS.

RE:
At what age should a puppy stop eating puppy food and start eating adult dog food?

Some Vets, if your puppy has been neutered or spayed, recommend switching at six to nine mos. of age to prevent too much weight gain since they may be less active. Others wait until one year. Most dog foods today will have recommended ages on their product for how long to feed the puppy food and when to switch to adult and it is different according to the food formulas and needs of different breed types in some foods. Best bet is to go by your recommendations with the food you feed your dog and by your Vet for your dog's specific needs if your pup has been spayed or neutered or has special needs.
For instance, pregnant and nursing dogs are often fed puppy food for the entire pregnancy and nursing period since there is a need for more fat and protein at that time.
GL with your pup!

Anything from 1 year - 18 months.

Different nutrition companies have different opinions, but this is generally the range. It also depends on whether you have a small, medium or large breed as to when they stop growing and can therefore move on to adult food. What breed is your dog?

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tinyurl.im/T7oMA

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

10 months- 12 months switch the two foods a little at a time- starting with more puppy food and decreasing it, and increasing the mix of adult food. It should take about a week to switch. Make sure you put them on a holistic diet. (you should have already but in case you didnt)

Holistic as in: Innova, Wellness, Nutromax, Canidae and various others. Talk to your vet to see what kind of stomach your animal has and what will be best for them. Different proteins digest differently. Watch out for Biproducts (of the meat) and fillers (Corn and chemicals)

Dont use Walmart brands if you care about your animal

Also watch out for that Food Recall that just went through
