It means your parents are kinda screwed up... Most parents are... Actually all of us are, so all parents are. They're just people, too. Basically your parents are saying that drugs are ok, and I can't believe they are so blind. Just ignore the messed up difference in how they treat you. Don't start doing drugs like your brother, and try not to be angry with him, just because he gets off easy. He'll probably have a lot harder time in life than you will, so be glad your parents are a bit tougher on you right now. I know it sucks, but boys are always treated differently than girls, and the younger kid always gets away with more. Just keep doing the right thing, it really does pay off when ya get older. Take care.

no, this is not fair. Maybe you should research the dangers of pot vs. the dangers of talking on a cell phone after 9:30 and discuss this with your parents. Thats dangerous stuff and could possibly lead to other illegal drugs.

I think that smoking pot should get alot more than a day. way worse than not giving the cell phone.

Maybe your parents smoke pot too and you running up the phone bill is probably costing them more money then a bag pot does.

Of course not. Your parents need to realize that pot is illegal, while the cell phone business is just house rules.
It's almost like if the court system gave the same punishment to a bank robber as they did to a jaywalker.

I guess that means that your parents don't have a problem with pot. But, maybe you should talk to them. That whole thing sounds a lil' sketchy to me. But, maybe they have a good reason. They may not want you talking to guys b/c it could lead to sex. Getting pregnant as a teenager is a lot worse then smoking some weed.

I'd say no, it doesn't balance out. You brother will continue to smoke-he just doesn't for that one day of being grounded. I think it all causes one to resent. Being grounded doesn't teach a teen right from wrong.

I believe in the legalization of marijuana, but if he is 12, he needs his azz whipped hard. Way to young for this. As for a cell phone, if your under 18 and live in there house, there rules! Just do it and go on. On a punishment stance, if that's all he gets for pot, they need to wise up to what is going on. And you can live without your phone for a day!

It means your parents are big wimps.
Either that, or they were known to skip a little rope (that's a euphemism for smoking dope) back in the day. Ask them. I bet they don't think smoking pot is "that big a deal".
Personally, unless you're Bill Gates-rich and can afford to smoke it in your back bedroom and not have it impact your job or school, I think it's stupid.

I don't think your parents are strict enough. I had a daughter who started with pot and then the pot wasn't enought so she started other drugs.
She even did drugs when pregnant and now I have a granddaughter when learning disabilities from the drug use. It is a sad situation.....
