Puppies should not come as a suprise they should be planned and part of the "PLANNING" is researching the breed, and finding out what they will need as in:
Shots
Food
Living Conditions
Behavior predispositions
Finding a responsible breeder or being a responsible pet owner
You should already have an interviewed Vet
and the home should be all set when they come home

How are there so many irresponsible people owning pets these days. If you want a pet so bad maybe you should all take care of them the way they deserve. How is it fair to a puppy (like any other child) to come into the world where the parents arent ready for them??

Seriously- DO THE RESEARCH then you wont have to resort to Yahoo Answers *Which isnt always accurate*. Read books about them. Do your homework!!

If you arent prepared for the costs of a puppy you shouldnt get one its not fair to either party- and if you arent smart enough or dont care enough to research them you shouldnt get one either. Its called Negligence

On a last note If you dont know your dog is having puppies THATS ABUSE you should know and spend time with your animal, not just keep them tied up in the backyard for a year and be suprised when they get pregnant. I wish it was illegal for non breeders to not spay their pets- and huge fines come with neglegence

Candy- IF they are actually worried they would have figured out this stuff in the begining. Questions on here should be late night questions when vets arent taking calls, of reallllly strange occurances that you wouldnt normally be prepared for. NOT:
Food Intake
Shots Schedualing
How to Birth them (that one annoys me the most)
If Gatorade is okay?

These things should be known- Researched ahead of time, and most are common knowledge!!

Mandy-
Please read the whole statement before responding. I am not talking about the occasional strange question or emergency situation (which if you have a vet you should have emergency numbers but thats another point)

Im talking about the people who consistantly ask basic simple questions that should already be known or can be easily found out by googling it and researching it for 5 Minutes-

Please read all of this before responding thats also being responsible.

Amen! People are retarded, and that's why animal shelters nationwide have to put millions of unwanted pets to sleep every year. Oh, but I didn't know my dog was pregnant! Yeah, because you're stupid and didn't get your dogs fixed in the first place.

I agree, I know a lot of people that seem to think pets are toys and can be ignored or put away when they don't want to play with them. The thing that kills me the most is when I see questions talking about how there dog is sick and they don't know what to do and don't have the money to take them to the vet. Then they get mad when I say they shouldn't own a pet if they can't afford to take them to vet for an emergency or even for their regular immunizations.

I think it may be along the same lines of why first-time parents ask so many baby questions. At least, for those that got a puppy, not had a dog have an oops litter. Their fault, but I guess they should still have their questions answered. If you cut of your foot doing smething stupid and need to know what to do about it, is it gonna help if everyone just calls you an idiot? Perhaps a bad example, but still.

No amount of reading and asking questions can ever amount to the actual experience of owning a new puppy. Research all you want, but there will allways be something you didn't read about. Info is fairly limited, and a lot of what is out there is not in "simple" terms *think akc breed standards. admittedly, it is giberish to me*

I think you have a great point. It is not just puppies. It is also cats, fish, etc. Before i get a pet i do a lot of research on it. And when i do get i am 100% prepared for it. And besides that ppl asking about what they should do when a emergency arrives INSTEAD OF BEING ON ANSWERS THEY SHOULD BE ON THEIR WAY TO THE VET. Thank you.

I agree, it's tragic.

Have people not heard of vets? You know, those people who trained for years to be able to help people with their pets? Why are people asking random strangers on the 'net for help instead of vets? Answer: because vets charge - for their PROESSIONAL SERVICE. If you don't want to spend money on a pet - don't get a pet.

Sweetie,

This is a nice try, but the Moron League Members aren't going to get it. I have tried myself, but they think that they are the exception to the rules. Their designer breed mutt is worth more and smarter and healthier than anyone else's dogs.

Why would they want to do research when some "expert" on here will congratulate them for having two litters of mutts in a weeks time. Or someone else will tell them how much to sell their yorkalabradoodle pups for!

It is hopeless!

Because they are worried about diseases that can harm them that's why they need their shots. They have to know how much to feed their puppy. What kind of temperature they have to live in. I know another thing because m cousin's pug has a problem with his eye so they need a special eye drops or him.
