We both have teenagers from previous marriages. We would love to have a baby of our own. We would be very loving parents. We know all the reasons we shouldn't but would love some reasons why we should. Any ideas? Thanks!

I just imagine what your 15-year-old child will say one day ("No,that;s not my grandfather, that is my father...yeah,he is 61...whatever!").But if you reallt want to,that shouldn't be a problem. There are medical reasons which can be a problem during pregnancy but in generally, you should have a baby if you feel like it.

The only things you should consider are the greatly increased chances of having a downs syndrom child at your age, and also the fact that your children will likely go through the pain of losing their parents at a lot younger age than most of their peers. If you are ok with both of those things, then more power to you. Having a child is wonderful. Just make sure that you consider the potential childs well-being, and make that top priortiy over your desire to have a child together for your OWN happiness.

Please talk to your doctor about this, and all the potential risks for your own health, and the baby's. That way you can weigh your decision very carefully and do what is best for you guys AND the child you may create.

Also, consider that you will be having grandchildren soon. My mom is only 40, but has 7 grandchildren because my step dad is older and has children with children. She loves them all like her own grandchildren. My daughter is her only blood grandchild. I asked my mom what it is like to be a grandma. She says its even better than being a parent because now she has the time and money to really enjoy them. She also admitted that she loves and enjoys having grandchildren just as much, if not MORE than she did having children. She says being a grandma is the most amazing thing that has ever happend to her. Since we only live 2 blocks from my parents, they are a big part of our daughters life, and its wonderful.

Not at all. My brother has a 26-year-old daughter from his first marriage, who presented him with his 1st grandchild, a boy, a few months after my brother married his second wife. The newlyweds presented their grandson with a new uncle 7 months later. Any big sister is expecting another baby this summer! It's wonderful, everyone in the family is enjoying the little ones immensely!

It really depends. Do you have the energy it takes to raise another kid? As parents yourselves, you know what it takes to raise a child. Are you willing and able to do that again? Just as important, do you have the financial resources to raise another child?

As you likely know, certain defects in the child are more common the older the mother gets (some studies also point to the father's age as a factor). Also, miscarriage becomes more common as the woman ages. Your doctor should be able to answer any questions concerning this.

If you want to have another child but find yourself to be for whatever reason physically incapable or simply not wanting to bear the physical burden, there is always the option of adoption. There are plenty of children out there who need good parents. There is also the option of using a surrogate mother to carry the child.

I dont think its a good idea to have children at that age, because of the medical complications,

Also you may be too old to connect to your childs experiences.

Your grandchildren will be the same age as your child.

If thats ok with you, then go for it, if not, why not just wait for the grand kids, You have all the freedom and you can help your kids out by babysitting all the time.

Babies are such a joy! Having a child together would be beautiful, if that's what you want. Having a baby at your age would involve risks & I don't think I would do it, but every pregnancy has risks, just yours may be a little higher. Talk to your doctor & get all the facts about high risks pg, then you and your spouse need to sit down & weigh the pros & cons to decide what is best for you. GOOD LUCK!
Hey! If you do become expectant parents, keep us informed in Yahoo!answers. I'd like to congratulate you!

Oh goodness no its not too old to have a baby. Having a baby in your life would be wonderful. :-) I used to work with a woman and she was 56 and had an 8 yr old son. You shouldnt have to ask yourself am I too old to have a child, you should be able to have a child whenever you want in life. Your never to old for that :-) Good Luck!

I don't think you are too old to be great parents. I personally would not want to experience pregnancy at 44 (I'm 42 now), but if you are healthy and willing, go for it.

And if it ends up being too risky medically, adoption is always an option for you and your husband to have the shared parenting experience you desire.

you just gave great reasons why you should, older parents have a lot to offer, more patience, more understanding, more life experience, more time, Go for it, Good luck, I think it's a great way to show and share your love for one another, I am 39 and my children range from 6months to 17 years, I am a much better parent now then when i was younger, and I'm more relaxed

It's not too old...but at that age you may have trouble getting pregnant. I've heard it said that a woman's most fertile time is 18-25, and by age 30 it really starts to drop off.
