IMHO, it's that they are afraid that we just might be right, and they don't want that.
The really stupid thing is, that people go to anti-Mormons for information on what Mormons believe, and why. That's as stupid as going to Neo-Nazi's to learn what Jews believe, and why, or to the Baptists to learn what wiccans believe, and why. If one wants to learn what a certain church or denmination believes, and why they believe it, then the most logical place to go is to those who believe. Don't go to CARM or ex-mormons.com to learn what I, as a Mormon, REALLY believe and why. Come to me. Or go to any LDS web site, especially www.lds.org or www.mormon.org , the official web sites for the LDS church. And read the Book of Mormon.

I feel some anger coming from this.. :) Don't worry I come in peace...I have two exes who were Mormon and both were completely different. I think people hate a lot of mormons because 1)they have a bad reputation of multiple wives..although I know that that wasn't just the mormons and one time...there were a lot of religions that did it. So..that should be thrown out. 2) no one understands the religion that well. Which of coarse people need to do their research..I myself and said quite a few mormon jokes..however there are lines that a lot of people cross. I'm sorry you were upset about it.
I hope more people take this challenge.

I try to stay out of the religion section but I have never seen any anti-Mormon posts whenever I have been looking on the religion section.
People are usually skeptical of things they do not know about.
If you choose a certain religion then you have to take the slings and arrows that come along with your beliefs; the ancient Christians and Jews did that for us.

Accept the fact that not everybody understands your religion nor will they like some rituals of the Mormon Church. Especially, when Joseph Smith married many women who some of them were married and he was arrested for crimes. It makes the church look like the creation of con man with no values. I'm Catholic and people don't like my faith but I just learned to accept it. You need to accept the fact that people aren't going to embrace Mormonism just as you probably have prejudices against other religions.

As you know the Mormon church requires its members to be holy. That's a little too much to ask, in this modern era of ours, okay?
So maybe some people are feeling the anti-Mormon urge, so what? Me personally, I feel the anti-Baptist urge, cause of their doctrine of Spontaneious Salvation, and a few other creepy ideas. We all got some kind of anti feelings.
But anyway I hate bats worse than Baptists, and morons worse than Mormons.

The events described in the Bible can be historically and archaeologically verified. The events in the Book of Mormon can not be. That is why I believe the former and not the latter.

I follow Jesus Christ... not a religion... not one that has rules and requirements outside of God's Word... and not one that adds to scripture to make it its own 'religion'
I have a relationship with Jesus Christ... for I turned from myself and to Him, and live to serve Him... i AM accountable for what I do in Christ alone... I have Faith already that needs no additional book but the Holy Bible... do not assume that religions of any kind can be true or untrue, based on what some church is telling you! find your faith in God alone

people need to put someone or something down. it is that simple. You were offended by the people putting down the Mormon faith. It is really good that you did not see the questions about people not liking chocolate ice cream.

why can't you accept that different people have different religions. we cant all be the same and believe the same things. why arent you muslim, hindi or buddhist, its also has to do with where we grow up and what our parents believe. as a mormon i would think you would be more tolerant and understanding.

Wow, what a tale. I dont believe in mormon, because they believe in some old man named Joseph smith, and trust me there aint no Joseph Smith in my Bible. In other words, they dont know the truth. They need Jesus. Not some old fart that was human just like them.
