do you get the money you need right from the school and how much can u ask for

If you recieved a pell grant.. this is what happends. The school will pay for your classes.. depending on how much money your getting.. if there is any money left over after paying for your classes.. they will give that left over money to you to buy books or supplies. My school they deposit it into your checking account.. so its possible they would offer something like that for you.

you will be offer a pell grant based on your attendance and your efc. It will go to your tuition and fees any remaining will be sent to you. you can apply for a student loan and request for an amount through it.
