Seems more and more Christans are accepting that there is nothing wrong with getting a tatto. About 40 years ago it was consider wrong to mark youself, but even yourth pastors have them. Yes, they do put things like bible versous and images of the cross or things like that. But is it still wrong? Do you see it wrong? Where does not it say to mark your self with ink and why not? In our time its becoming a norm to have a tattoo even for Christians.

In Leviticus 19:28 God told the Israelites not make tattoo marks on themselves; but if you say that was under the Law, see Romans 12:1,2 which says "I urge you brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present you bodies as living sacrifices, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship, and stop being conformed to the pattern of this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so you can test and approve the will of God, the good, well-pleasing and perfect will of God."

Well, if people are going to quote the ancient hebrew, at least get it right.

Lev 19:28 -- "And a cutting for the soul ye do not put in your flesh; and a writing, a cross-mark, ye do not put on you; I [am] YHWH."

A more colloquial translation might be something like: "And do not make incisions in your skin in remembrance of the dead, and do not write magic signs or symbols on your skin."

While tattooing has a very long history it would appear that when Leviticus was written there was a practice of indigenous people using body markings as a kind of magic; the idea of spells and what-not. It is not clear (and IMHO not likely) that the OT writer had tattooing in mind, but even if he did, it is not likely that he was acquainted with the idea of tattoing as "art" or for "pleasure."
